firstly i am not a hatton nuthugger but i think its fair to say that the hate he received after losing to floyd was a bit unfair. cotto got ktfo on saturday yet he still hasnt received much hate. isnt losing your 0 to margarito the way he did worse than hatton losing his 0 to the p4p king who is undefeated.
Discuss! :boxing:
That's his own damn fault for gaining a reputation of holding and hitting.. served him right really because all the other times the ref didn't shit and it was unfair to the other fighter.. what goes around comes around.
Hatton didn't have that reputation at all amongst referees. Floyd made a big deal out of it constantly becuase he knew he was fucked if he had to stand and fight instead of being allowed to backpedal around the ring. Mayweather influenced the referee, not cool.
Hahaha this is apparently all you think about. I'll let it go, because it's obvious you never will. I see your sad delusional sig with your awful scoring, your avatar, and your off topic nature making no mention of cotto, only your view on cortez helping mayweather in a very easy night against hatton. Good luck with that buddy, I hope you get the help you need.
My view?
its Hatton's view dickhead.
Cotto wasn't fighting the ref like Hatton had to.

Ricky Hatton got hate because it was a UK vs US thing..
Also I think because he only won like 2 or 3 rounds.. at least I couldn't find anymore rounds to give him myself... I think 3 was generous enough.
To top it off he got KO'd by a turn buckle..
But the biggest difference is that Flomos like to act and be like their idol..
So they talk mad shit like to be loud and abnoxious.
BUt I think there would have been more shit talk if the fight wouldn't of been close..
Still except a couple people, Margarito and Cotto fans really aren't that type of fans.
Ahahaha are you serious? Holy fuck the nuthuggers never cease to amaze me. Cotto took far worse punches than Hatton. Hatton got knocked the fuck out by a single punch, Cotto's beating was a steady war that he couldn't keep up with in the end. I'd like to see Hatton try and step up and fight cotto. My prediction: KO in Round 1 for Cotto. You talk shit about a fighter being chicken for taking a knee? I'd like to see you sustain that much punishment for a fighter as big as Margarito. Look at the size difference he had to deal with for 11 rounds.
Cotto wasn't fighting the ref like Hatton had to.
Half of you guys are full of sh*t... Any boxing fan with half a brain knew cotto was going to get knocked out based on his performance against that fool from the contender. When I seen cotto come out bouncing around instead of just running up on Gomez and destroying I knew he was preparing for margarito and that he was scared of margarito, because why would he change his style of fighting up for such an easy opponent. He already knew he was in trouble, that's why he bowed out gracefully before getting laid out like hatton did.. The difference between cotto and hatton is cotto knew he was going to lose although everybody was telling him he would win, while hatton actually thought he was going to win, and even got a few and I mean a few people to believe that bullsh*t also... Cotto shouldn't receive any hate, because he was never on camera talking sh*t like Hatton was prior to their respective fights...
Yeah, I agree Cotto clearly tried to change up his style against Gomez, but he also boxed much better against Mosley than he had in previous fights. I think he's been slowly adapting, and just took a big leap with the foot movement starting with the Gomez fight. Still, it's hard to say he had no chance against Margarito, he did very well and if he was able to move less and save up some energy he may have avoided some of those uppercuts that ended the fight.
I thought the manner in which Cotto lost was a bit chicken.
I remember thinking how Hatton showed balls of steel, he was getting hammered by Floyd and dragged off by the referee yet still kept on fighting.
Wheras Cotto had it in the bag and then just quit.
He took a knee despite not taking any real heavy shot, then he literally ran 20feet from Margarito and jumped onto the floor before Margarito could begin his second attack.
I never thought i'd see someone like Cotto do that.
He acts like mr Indestructible and then to quit like that. Especially as now its confirmed in La Hora that his nose WASNT broke, just a bit swollen.
Chris Eubank needed 12 stitches in his tongue after taking a shot off Nigel Benn and still grinded out a draw after literally almost bleeding to death.
I think the myth of Cotto has evaporated now.
Hatton would never quit despite taking any shot. He showed that in round 12 against Collazo and againt Kostya Tszyu.
No doubt Hatton beats Cotto at 140. I'd give him a good chance at 147 too.

You can't compare the 2. There was always a risk of Cotto getting KO'd or knocked down by Margarito and vice versa. Nobody (whether they lie to themselves or not) thought Floyd was going to KO Hatton.
Bad comparison

Maybe it's because Cotto-Margarito was a war. Definitely candidate for fight of the year, and probably will be because as good as the other candidates were, none of them were this built up. Cotto landed the hardest shots of the fight, outboxed Margarito very easily in certain points, and fought on with a broken nose, cut eye, and badly bleeding mouth for some time before finally getting stopped. Hatton was never in that fight and you're a retard if you say cortez won that fight. Hatton was getting torn up on the inside. That fight was mayweather's homage to bernard hopkins. I didn't like either fight less after the loss, but it did prove my point that Hatton never deserved as much praise as he had been receiving, and probably shouldn't be near the p4p list. I would give him much props if he finally fought a real opponent in his division, like Torres, Holt, Bradley, or Witter.
There was virtually no inside fighting until after the 6th when the ref knew Mayweather was on top.
Compare with Hopkin/Calzaghe when he allowed in-fighting all night.
You're full of shit about Hatton, he's 44-1 and he was screwed out of that fight.
Yeah weird he actually reffed the fight crazy huh? It was really unfair how Cortez held Hatton's hands behind his back and let Mayweather hit him, can't believe they haven't investigated that...nuts.
He wasn't far off. He protected Mayweather at every opportunity and Hatton even turned his back on the ref. He really should've left the ring.
Well Floyd wasn't exactly throwing the punches that Margarito was landing. His performance isn't really comparable with the performance Cotto put on. Hatton doesn't have the ability to absorb punches at 147, which he also demonstrated against Collazo. Just because they both lost to great fighters, doesn't mean they deserve the same credit. But like I said I don't take anything away from him in that fight, it went exactly as I thought it would. I appreciate what you're saying, which contradicts a lot of what I read here, respecting the loser of the fight as well. I take nothing away from any man who puts on the gloves and steps in there with the best. I respect Hatton and enjoyed his fight with Lazcano despite all the shit thats been talked about it. My only problem with him is that he's shamelessly ducked Witter and hasn't fought the better fighters in his division despite the growing talent, and is still ranked #1 and sees the p4p list too often.

yes cotto did fight wen he didnt need to and most people would have quit. hatton did take a shit load off floyd from round 6 onwards before going down. its fair to say both fighters have hearts and should receive the same amount of critiscm for losing.
Hatton was never really in his fight with Floyd. It was overhyped.
Cotto/Margrito was a true battle, it could have gone either way up till the 11th round.
And Cotto was NOT 'KTFO'. His corner stopped it, he was standing. He did everything he could. Hatton didnt get off any significant body attacks. Wasnt much of a fight.
Also, neither Hatton or Cotto deserve 'hate'.
Thats fuckin stupid.
wherebouts in yorkshire u from?

hatton was outclassed end of. hes one of my favourite fighters but floyd is on anutha level. cortez was a bitch that night but floyd still would of won.
Cotto Can Dish It But He Cant Take It. Everyone Is Forgetting The Fact That He Quit! He Went To A Knee And When His Corner Waived The White Flag He Made No Argument He Wanted Out That Ring!
definatly i think the simple fact he was a favourite coming into this fight by the majority of boxing experts its fair to say that hardly ne1 not even the british media was giving hatton a chance against floyd.
