I see a lot of hating on Cotto around here. He fought like a warrior but just came up short. Anyways watch this gif, the last knockdown before the fight was over.

You can see he went down without taking any punches. But at this point he was already exhausted and had already taken some punches before.
I will let you all decide.

But you don't know if it was more mental than physical since you aren't Cotto. He was at that point where his body just didn't have anything left to give. He was exhausted, he had a broken nose with a constant blood flow and had taken too many hard body shots from Margs. Instead of trying to disrespect Cotto give Tony some credit for being able to take a damn good champion to that point. Cotto is one of the elite fighters right now and Tony just physically beat him till he couldn't continue.
remember the old cus damato saying a coward and a hero feel the same way its what they do that makes them different!
do you understand what that means??
if all fighters acted on feeling "mentally exhausted" or feeling "physically beaten" their would be no warriors in boxing, just a bunch of sissys who are there for the money and don't want to get involved in a "fight" or are afraid of little bit of a bloody nose!!
THIS IS BOXING!!! this ain't tennis or soccer or some other GAY sport
Duran hmm legend . but remember his wise words " no mas"
duran was on the slide by that time, remember he was lightweight with 73
fights! cotto is in his prime! there is no excuse for a fighter in his prime to quit!
duran was a legend before "no mas" and he achieved plenty afterwards!!
so i wouldn't compare a bum like cotto to duran!!
thats like saying arguello is a quitter becuase of the second pryor fight!
arguello was old and shot!! it's not the same thing! he never quit in his prime and he NEVER would!!!!!!
the cotto that got abused by margarito is the best version of cotto iv ever seen and he still didn't have enough stamina!! LOL!!
cotto is a prime fighter that quit because he was afraid!!! end of story
if all fighters had your mentality there would be no such thing as boxing legends
just a sport full of cowards

Fuck NO. He got up to fight. His corner threw in the towel. He needed that 8 count and tried to come back. Quiting is more emotional than physical. He didn't Quit. Stop this BS.
my words exactly.......
pissin me off with this Cotto quit shit....
He got up and was gonna fight till the end of the 12th or being ko'd... no way in hell he'd quit.
He had puerto Rico behind him...
And he will win the rematch.. taking bets!
Only the mexicans are saying he quit.
They feel so good right now.
I expected the worst coming back to the forum, just to see how it would be and its just as I expected.
Its justs a loss, im telling you Cotto will come back better than ever.
Stay tuned.
That's the thing I think he could have continued. Marg just scared him man, Cotto's never fought anybody who he just couldn't hurt. He didn't know what to do anymore, so I think he just said man let me just take a knee and get the fuck outtta here.
Look there is nothing wrong with quitting, if you can not beat some one, and your getting clobbered. takes a man to say fuck dude your better then i'am, let me take the hell off.
before my wife needs to see me more hurt.
Cotto did exactly what he should have done and to call him a quitter is BS. He was beaten and exhausted to the point where he couldn't continue. Why should he continue to fight when Margs wasn't even close to slowing down and he was basically out. He would have just taken more unnecessary punches that he couldn't stand to take. I don't think anybody on here calling him a quitter has been in a fight or in the position where they don't have a chance.

I guess i will some it up and look after the knockout.
He went to the ground on his own accord, he noticed his corner comming(usaly fighters will get angry to play it off) which he did not. he wanted to quit and he did so with great fasion and an attempt to save face.
he took off so quick from the ring from sheer disappointment, usaly great champs even in a huge loss always will remain in the ring and do interviews.
this guy felt like shit because he quit and let his people down, so he felt like he had no dignatiy and took off running, well walking swiftly
Like I said before, dude fought a great fight. But I think he could gone through 12. I think he was acting more hurt than he actually was. The CHAMPION has a responsibility to defend his title, defend it until he can't anymore. And when I sayto the point that he can't anymore, I mean that the CHALLENGER knocks him out cold, or kills the dude lool Im sorrry man but if I was Cotto, I would have gone until Marg knocked me the **** out. (because it was bound to happen) but thats just me man, I got to much pride to just take a knee.
I think mentally he didn't quit because he isnt that kind of guy, but he was physically tired and had nowhere else 2 go, i think he was exhausted and knew that margz was jus gonna keep on comin no matter what he did..so i wouldn't say he quit because he wanted 2 continue, his corner threw in the towel, he was just mentally and physically tired
if people are saying he quit to discredit Cotto then I hope they realize they are also discrediting Tony by doing it.
if you all don't think Cotto isn't a warrior then no one is. Period. He left his heart balls and guts in that ring.
shameful shit
Your the gayest person alive you make me embarrassed that im 1/2 mexican
You were embarrassed by your warrior roots already, you just needed an excuse to let it out to the public.
