Cotto v Margarito: Who Was Winning?

Cotto won most of the first half and Margarito won most of the second half. Pretty much an even fight by the end.

I had Margarito 96-94, after Cottos nose broke in the 7th I knew it was over with...

So this was that 1 time out of 10? Damn. But I don't remember you saying that. I remember you making a ton of comments like this. Another victim of the Cotto hype machine. :rolleyes: Yes there are two options. Either that was the one time out of ten or else I got it very wrong. I stick by all the comments I made leading up to the fight. I still think Cotto is a vastly superior boxer and I was very susrprised that he lost the fight. I think with a few subtle but important changes he would have won the fight comfortably. Having said that, perhaps I underestimated Margarito.

Level after 10. Margarito was on to a 10-7 round in the 11th --- so Margarito was ahead @ the time of stoppage in my mind. Didn't you say Margarito couldn't beat Cotto? I said Cotto wins nine times out of ten.

Two judges had it 96-94 to Margarito and the third had it 95-95. Thats reasonable

cotto rounds 1,3,4,5,6 Margz 2,7,8,9,10 so draw but wudda had margz winning 11 and most probably 12

Who did you have up on the cards prior to the stoppage? i had it even...95-95; 5 rounds a piece. you could have had it 6 rounds to 4 rounds; 96-94 for cotto and it would have been okay... i cant really see margarito being up 96-94 at the time of stoppage though... incase anyone cares...i had cotto winning 4 of the first 5...and then margarito winning 4 of the next 5 rounds... thats how i have it even...i dont have the scoercard with me anymore so i cant tell you round by round but i remember i had it even.

Cotto was leading till the 10th round Margarito with the knockdown and the 11th. He probably would have won the 12th

Kind of how Enzo Calzaghe claimed Macca would've beaten Haye if the fight would've gone 12 rounds.................. does that make much sense to you? enzo macarinelli's hands are too fast for haye.

6-4 cotto. cotto won 4 of the 1st 5 imo. could easily be 5-5. i was too busy watching and enjoying the fight to properly score though.

I think i had it at a draw as well It was hard to say at the time cuz i was caught up in the fight.

I'm not trying to make any point, I just want to have a consensus of opinion on who was winning. Oh ok. Well, in that case. I wasnt keeping a scorecard but in my head, I had the fight pretty much even.
