Many people sweat his chin and probably rightfully so but he hasnt a 100% proved it to me yet. He just fought 2 of the biggest punchers in the game in Cotto & Cintron and walked through there shots like it was nothing "but" there are different kinds of punches. 9 times out of 10 a punch is not as hard when your going backwards or even just planted at times. Cotto & Cintron are huge punchers but they are both guys who have came forward in a 100% of there fights. There mostly fighting guys who are running or circling and then you can deliver the full blow. Its like your digging into them. When your going backwards like Margarito has made them then its not the same power. He's kind of punking them and taking some of the power out of there shots.
My point is that the only way you will ever be able to know if he has a dynamite chin is if there's a guy who is ever able to make him go back or who can atleast fight most of the fight without retreating at all. The guys at WW who could somewhat do this in the past were maybe a Mosley & Oscar but definatly guys like Forrest, Mayorga, Tito, and Quartay. If Margarito were ever able to fight them in there prime at WW then you could really judge his chin because he would definatly get there full power since I dont think he could make those guys go backwards all fight. Guys like them with there speed & power would meet him head on and some of them would try to even full out attack him
I totally disagree with you guys. 1st off I said that his chin is good but it isnt great. Its not the same punch. Why cant people see that. Just think about you getting into a fight. You can fight the same guy and let him punch you on the move or planted and then let him punch you when he's digging in and walking you down. Its a totally different kind of power. There is no way he has the P4P best chin in the sport. How can he have P4P when he just got KO and he's by far one of the biggest guys in the sport per division. Its not like he's a little guy who is fighting big guys and taking shots. He's a big guy who's usually fighting guys much smaller and there on the run. Its not the same kind of power.
Trust me when I say that I bet anything if Shane had tried to run all night and hit him with big shots then Margarito wouldnt have been hurt at all again but Shane had a different startgegy. From the opening bell he tried to get inside and put all his power into nearly every shot like he always does. It hurts way more and thats what most guys have to deal with but Margarito never really has because he's usally much bigger & stronger then his opponents
Margarito has the best P4P chin. All the fight he was getting rocked by Sugar Shane,he received rocket punch in the opening round and he smiled right in Mosley's face. He received 6-7 power punch before finally going to the canvas.
MArgo has an impressive chin is just the accumulation of punches from Mosley witch he hits damn hard got to Margo.
So here is my question:
Do some of you still think that MArgarito would have beaten Tito Trinidad?
Margarito obviously has an incredible chin but the problem for him is that no man can take the kind of punishment he does without paying the price.
I don't think he was able to defend a single punch at all from Mosley, even the likes of Chuvalo and LaMotta were able to avoid most of the punches thrown at them. Margarito just stood there, took it and had nothing going for him all night.
well from the fight with cotto, he was getting hit with big shots but he just walked right through them and counter punched cotto into submission, yea he took hard punches none rocked him so yea he's got a solid chin.
Yup same here
Without that chin no one would be talking about Margo he has no defense , movement. Just chin. Some say great stamina but when you don't dodge punches, Move around the ring you know everything most boxers do to avoid get hit cleanly you preserve energy to just throw punches.
This is the only thing possible of stopping Margarito

I'm pretty sure there something else that can do it...
how about him?

BUMP BUMP BUMP!!!!!!!
What did I tell you about his chin? Im telling you that its a totally different kind of punch when your going backwards then when your going forward and digging into him. Cotto & Cintron hit equally as hard if not clearly harder then Mosley but Shane was digging into Margarito while those other 2 guys were on the move or just planted. Its not the same power at all and now you see that his chin isnt as spectacular. I told everyone in my house that Shane has never ever been a punk and always commits to his punches so we will really see if Margarito has this super chin or if Shane will hurt him easily with his combo of speed/power

Paul Williams ...........................
Um, I disagree..
Look at the shit cintron was landing..
He landed the same shots on Walter Matthysse and that doode was out cold..
People like yourself discredit people.. Basically your not directly discrediting Tony, but your running around it..
Seriously, what does this guy have to do to show you hes got a solid beard?
Take a clean shot from a prime Tyson?
Your retarded..
Now go make another MMay post like you always do
Exactly, Margaritos got the hardest chin in the sport... Bar Far.
I am not even a big fan of Margarito but that man has great chin. For that even be questioned at this stage is crazy. Now against bigger opponents at higher weights that remains to be seen.
I am of the fact that Margarito has shown me he has a great chin better than anybody could tell me.
The OP is a fool. I watched Cintron, Clottey, Williams and Cotto land their hardest shots and Marg walk right through them. Without even flinching.
I think he has a dangerous chin, the type of chin that won't allow him to quit and could lead to him getting permanantly hurt.
I would go with BALDIMIR.The guy took everything JUDAH had,GATTI had,CLOTTEY,MAYWEATHER,and VERNON FORREST(who tagged him all night and in my opinion is probably along with GATTI 2 pounld for lb powerpunchers. Also MARGIRITO usually ends fights early so its not like he took 24 rounds of punches but 12.BALDIMIR's fight usually go to the scorecards.

His chin is granite. Pure granite. I don't like the guy at all but his chin is hard.
What I keep asking myself is why the hell when Cotto had so many chances togo the body that he instead went to the head where he should have known Marg would have taken it.
I re watched the fight last night and i noticed Tony kept his elbows tucked in most of the night and just left his head open.
u got that right
well from the fight with cotto, he was getting hit with big shots but he just walked right through them and counter punched cotto into submission, yea he took hard punches none rocked him so yea he's got a solid chin.
It is incredible. Cotto basically outboxed Marg and landed way more clean hard shots, but the strength of his chin made it irrelevant. It allowed him to do what few thought he could.
