Credit to Margarito last night this guy has an amazing chin/workrate, he has a never say die attitude but i still cant get over how SLOW margarito is, Why is he that slow??? is it because his a big guy fighting at 147 or what..
1) genetics
2) He throws everything hard
3) He doesn't train plyometrics or for speed
Probably it.
I mean he's just a lanky guy. Not a physical specimen by any means.
Much like a Kelly Pavlik.......who is pretty slow also.

Well, Cotto started too fast. He was throwing bombs early on, not going to the body, fighting on the ropes. He ran out of gas, and didnt know what to do when he couldnt do, what he had done for the majority of the fight.
Cotto didnt fight the way he could/should have. He made mistakes in regards to his approach, and most of all his pace.
Cotto has the skill and ability to outclass Margarito (as he did for 2/3 of the fight) but he didnt take the right approach.
Thats what i was thinking when the fight started, Why cotto was backpedalling from the first round was beyond me, He fought the wrong fight totally...I would have thought he would have use the clottey and williams fight like a blueprint on how to dissect Margarito's gameplan.
Margarito only has one gamepaln which is to throw alot of punches, back you up and hunt you down, Williams and clottey stayed right in front of margarito and back HIM up...You dont backpedal from people like Margarito.
The truth about the fight?
Cotto was outboxing Tony which most suspected. 4 of Cottos shots however were equal to one of Margaritos, whose blows were much more damaging. Antonio even laid out his plan beforehand. He said he was going to simply wear Cotto down and over power him and he did. Nobody really cares that he appeared to be behind on points at the end of 6 because the fight was scheduled for 12.

This may be true IF you consider that Margarito's chin is much more durable than Cotto's. Cotto's blows looked much harder, his KO% speaks for itself. Cotto has better power than Margarito, the difference was Margarito's amazing chin.

One thin I'm laughig is at how the mexicans are acting like as if Marg was winning the whole fight, yea Cotto tired out and then got KO'd but speak the truth about the fight, cuz in the mid rounds when margarito was getting a boxing lesson his face was discouraged..till later on when he landed that body shot and took care of business from there
I give full credit to Cotto for his top-tier exhibit of skill and heart. But it doesn't matter how many rounds you win by boxing, when you eventually fade and are a target for Margarito's heavy hands. It's the exact same reason why Oscar will now avoid Margarito.
I think Mexicans weren't too concerned by Cotto's "boxing lesson" because they know their fighter Margarito. They saw their guy wasn't showing any signs of fading and was walking through most of Cotto's best stuff. They were satisfied with those first 6 rounds because they are smart fight fans and understood that Cotto couldn't sustain his "boxing lesson" for 12 rounds, which was exactly what Cotto needed to beat Margarito.

Seems you watched the fight and saw Cotto's amazing boxing display. It deserves recognition.
But you didn't see Margarito getting frustrated.
Sure, you might have seen him something in his face, but he did not show frustration in the way that Cotto had hoped, which would be for Margarito to change his fight plan. Instead, Margarito was a model of discipline and he didn't stray from his fight plan at all. He didn't need to. Things unfolded exactly as his team has prepared for, a late stoppage after chasing the guy most of the night.

True that he does not possess Mayweather's reflexes, but it's easy to see he has attributes that more than makeup for any deficit in speed.

those slow punches are bombs.
don't be fooled.
I dont want to imagine getting hit by one of those bombs from Rito.

If only he could work more on his hand and specially footspeed.
His lack of skill and speed are made up for by the fact that you couldnt hurt the guy with an 44 mag! He can get hit and never stops throwing and moving forward. But yeah, I swear I could see every punch coming before he threw them.
This is what got me in his fight last night, I could see exactly every single shot he was going to throw before he even threw them, But he makes up for it because he throws alot of powershot and they usually do the damage in the end.
