Raymond Joval vs Buddy McGirt Jr. (middleweight)
Gary Wilcox vs Nagy Aguilera (heavyweight)
Joval seems like a somewhat threatening opponent coming of a TKO loss.....Why no rematch with De Leon I wonder.....
When are heavyweights going to look like athletes again?
Good point. Apart from Tyson and the Klitschko's (not comparing those in any way just pointing out a fact) I've never seen an Heavyweight look like an athlete . Think Haye could look like one but time will tell...
alright, I remember now. But Joval isn't eaxactly an easy opponent to face either after a loss, especially being as inexperienced as McGirt Jr. is.....
And I give McGirt Jr. a lot of props for taking a difficult fight like this after a tough loss. I think he knows that it's now or never, either he's going to make his move or he isn't. No use in taking a step back now, he's gone too far for that.
One thing about flukes in boxing, there are none. To knock someone out, there has to be intent, especially with those big gloves on. It is damn hard to knock someone out.
Calling a fight a "fluke" is a way for fans and supporters of a fighter to explain what they can't explain. Tyson's people still don't know why Douglas beat him, but that wasn't luck or a fluke. Douglas just whipped his ass, that's what happened.
You'd be surprised how big a part of boxing hype is. Hype makes people believe some fighters are unbeatable, when in all reality every fighter is beatable. Even the undefeated ones.
Fluke nothing, McGirt Jr. came in to try and finish a guy off that he had hurt in the previous round and he got caught giving up his height. He went into De Leon's kitchen and got burned, plain and simple. His father was telling him in the corner do not get careless and try to knock him out, but he did just that and paid the price.

If I'm not mistaken it was sort of a fluke.....Maybe I'm wrong.

Also if I'm the manager of a fighter, I wouldn't put my guy in with an immediate rematch with the guy who just KO'ed me. It usually doesn't work out well.

Maybe De Leon has other plans.
