Oscar De La Hoya , Julio Cesar Chavez , Roberto Duran , Shane Mosley and Pernell Whitaker are all very skilled and great fighters.
A Floyd Mayweather Jr. fan just posted on the Kostya Tszyu thread that all those great fighters would "dust" Kostya Tszyu.
He has a good point. Those guys probably could beat Kostya but those guys are all great fighters.
Now at of curiousity , how would those guys do against Floyd Mayweather Jr.?
I'm of the opinion that prime vs. prime all those guys beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. as well.
Thoughts?
yeah my other account got banned lol aussieboxer2320 so im just using this and trying to be good lol
lol
nah....... bakatngbanig is just messing with me.
he's been calling me an alt since i picked margarito to beat cotto.
joartcc is some other poster on here. one of the worst ones.
floyd beats them all and pernell would be his toughest competition only because of his southpaw style and his defense, but floyd beats them all. the floyd mayweather that fought justin jukko would not have lost to duran, oscar, shane, or sweet pea. do you guys realize how fast he was at 130, 135, and 140. hell, he's still fast at 147. shane mosley would get beaten by floyd at any weight class, flody is too much of a finesse fighter for shane, who did get hit a lot. duran at 135 would be a good fight for floyd but floyd was too fast for him and too accurate a puncher for him on defense, countering. floyd is a better fighter than all of those guys listed and one of the rare, special fighters in boxing like an ali and roy jones jr. i dont' see any of them beating floyd period, but sweet pea would be his toughest fight, but floyd hit harder and was faster with his upper and lower body movement, especially at 130 and 135. add to this, none of those fighters put their punches together as sharp as floyd did which is why he could land so accurately like he did. watch floyd vs justin jukko and you'll realize how special he was a fighter. they all lose to floyd, guarantee you all.
dios, post the fight with floyd vs justin jukko. i guarantee you these peopel will realize how special a fighter floyd was and still is. he beats them all. he's too methodical in the ring and does things too well for those fighters.
Go rewatch some of those old fights Whittaker would have been faster and more accurate because he had a better more consistent offense, he threw more punches.
Mosley was a dominant fighter at 135, very special 31-0 29 KOs. He hit hard, countered you before you even landed your punch, and had a dynamite chin. Mosley had a high work output that was very accurate and vicious. His footwork was amazing as well. His hand speed and head movement were ridiculous at 135, there was no one to challenge him at that weight. His combinations were wicked fast and very damaging.
DLH at his most durable still hit hard with deceptive speed. His left hook is one of the nastiest in memory, it put you on your ass, ask Quartey, Vargas, etc. DLH was a great long power puncher with great boxing ability.
Chavez slowed and hurt everyone. Meldrick Taylor put on the fight of his life that night and still got beat to shit(I didn't say lose). Chavez has that pretty double hook. Castillo's hook gave Mayweather fits, Chavez was a bit better at doing what Castillo did.
Duran hit hard and was fast with his hard shots that were very damaging. He was shiftier then you realize good boxing ability and stones for hands.
duran got that "eye of the tiger" damn !
good post ALT - too bad my boy will whoop your boy on the 26th , toe to toe !
don't burn me. i'm using this account 'til they unban my JOARTCC account.
your boy cotto is gonna lose......
i'm telling you.
when you watch the fight and he starts trading more and more and boxing less and less......you'll be thinking JOARTCC was right......cotto is gonna lose this one......
Fuck i was owned :grumpy:
nah...... tua never owns anyone. tua is mr. nice guy. :)
plus it's a common mistake. you just counted all the divisions he was in that's why.
against a limited fighter.
question: why does Duran get the "4 divisions above his natural class: excuse, but Floyd does not?
isnt 154 4 divisions up for pbf?
limited fighter or not iran barkley was a legit middleweight champion.
and duran was 38 yrs. old!!!
plus no one said anything about floyd not being 4 divisions up at 154.

boxing fans hypocrites

Yeah, but these guys all weighed in at different weights when they were at their best. If they all met at 135, Floyd could beat all of them. The best Duran to me was when he beat Sugar, the best Dlh was when he beat Tito, the best shane was when he fought Dlh. The best Whitaker was when he fought at lightweight. Floyd would find it difficult to beat all of these guys. I'd only bet my money on Duran beating Floyd.
people are not always at their best when they beat their best opponent boof.
duran's and shane's best was at 135.
oscar's best was at 147.
chavez's best was at 140.
floyd's best was at 130 and 135. (i can't decide which)
Shane has been hit alot in almost every fight. Shane has really bad defensive lapses... his chin allows it. But it also makes him susceptible to being outboxed.
I mean, Fernando vargas was boxing pretty even with Shane.
Someone of Shane's athleticism shouldn't get hit as much as he does.
...excellent post!!!!!...not many people notice details like that...so, why does someone like Mosley get hit a lot?...because he's not afraid of getting hit...Mosley is one of my all time favorite fighters and I rank him with greats like Haggler, Holyfield, Smokin Joe and the great Rocky Marciano...all of these guys came to fight...plain and simple...these guys all had HUGE hearts, and win, loose or draw, they came to fight, not run around and avoided getting hit...the problem with guys like this is they have a rough time with score cards because when you aren't afraid of getting hit, you get hit a lot and loose on the score cards...boy, if it was like it was in the begining, "til the finish", these guys would be unbeatable...
Kabuki Joe
...Chavez, in his prime, would make PBF sit on his stool...when he lost to Whittaker, at that point in his career PBF would also take him...but, you are forgeting the one fighter that would be "certain doom" for PBF because he'd run circles around him...and as much as I hate the guy, I think he'd give PBF fits...WHAT TIME IS IT?????...IT'S MACHO TIME!!!!!...I would love to see that fight...
Kabuki Joe
A prime DLH at 147 would have been able to beat Mayweather IMO even though he did have problems with fast fighters in his prime.
Mayweather would have beaten Chavez at any weight.
Duran would have won at 135, I think the Duran that beat Leonard would have won against Mayweather at 147.
Prime Mosley would have beaten Mayweather.
Whitaker would have too.
Maybe, but Chavez could really cut off the ring well, and was a better body puncher then Castillo. Floyd might get one fight off him if it were a triology, but I think Chavez would win.
I'd pick him to beat:
Mosley, then De La Hoya, then Duran (147), Chavez, and Whitaker would be the worst fight for him.
that's what is so hard to figure with a chavez-floyd fight.
chavez is better and would fight like castillo who gave floyd the most problems out of everybody , though to me floyd clearly won the first fight.
but...... pernell whitaker clearly beat julio and meldrick taylor should've beat julio as well and floyd certainly has the physical tools and skills to equal pernell and meldrick's performance.
tough call.
