Pavlik wins this one pretty much hands down. Hop's offensive outpout against JC should be an indicator of what to expect. Pav will walk him down and blow through his guard. I don't like this fight at all and only Hop has anything to gain from it. Winky/Williams should of been next but Arum seems to think this is the fight that makes $ense. I would REALLY like to see Pav unify after this fight but if everything goes according to Arum's plan, JC will be next. AA is the fight he should make but taking and beating JC will prove to be a legacy builder for the young Pav.
Ofcourse it will go up. Calzaghe's stock would rise too.
Hopkins is already ahead legacy wise as the polls show on the other thread.
But if (when) Joe losses to RJJ, his legacy will start dippin' and dippin'.
And Tunney will shed sweet tears.
He doesn't need to make up for them. Those losses were close and arguable, and came against a hungry, young fighter after a decade of dominance in the division.
Take your dishonest bullshit out of here.
You black pride types are going to cry when Hopkins gets hammered by another whiteboy.
the result of this fight all depends on how much Hopkins has left in him
i think if he fights on a level to what he did when he faced Calzaghe he could win, and if he fights better than he did against Calzaghe he really should win, but if he's lost yet more of his stamina and offense since the Calzaghe fight he might be KO'd for the first time
Care to bet 50 K on it, Addition?
Hopkins could win by TKO on cuts caused by headbutts like Toney did on Wednesday night, or could injure Pavlik with a headbutt, like Benn did to MacClellan.
But he won't defeat Pavlik without resorting to illegal methods.
Deal. Sig it.
Thats true, the 170 card would deffo be played if Kelly loses that fight, he wont lose though and BHop should retire gracefully IMO.
It would be a great way for Hopkins to retire.
Pavlik would lose a big payday against Calzaghe though and who knows what it'll do to his confidence.
Of course, just like with Trinidad. But just like with Trinidad, he is walking in a huge underdog.
Personally I think he has nothing left offensively to compete but it would be a nice suprise to see him win. I like Pavlik too so I'm fine with whoever takes it.
I don't think he'll be a huge underdog but he'll be the underdog in their fight.
He still has enough offense to keep Pavlik honest but I'm not sure if he has enough offense to beat Pavlik.
I think he could beat him. Pavlik's not necessarily the most talented fighter in terms of skills, plus Hopkins is excellent defensively. I think Hopkins might pull off the upset here.
It'll most certainly help his legacy, there will still be some people that will say Pavlik shouldn't have fought him at 170 though.
