Is this good bad or decent? 8500 seats are whats for sell in the arena. So 7000 are left after one day. Depending on how fast they sell more seats will be opened up. 1500 a good number or not?
1500 is pretty good concidering theres about 2 months for the fight... this will be great fight!! katsidis dosent take a step back and i dont think diaz will as well
Maybe they make more money of betting in a place like Vegas than in seats? (don't know, I'm trying to make some sense to the fact that you presented)
It's because they have gotten used to just picking up a site fee check and having the money guaranteed.
Hatton's fight against Lazcano had a bigger gate $$ then his fight against Mayweather, promoters shop around the fights to casinos and venues that will guarantee the biggest fee. Thats why you get fights like Juan Diaz vs Julio Diaz in Chicago in front of 3000 fan. Don King probably got the best site fee there, so he doesn't have to do his Job of promote.
It's like the promoters aren't promoters any more, they are brokers who collect a check from HBO and the Casinos, pay the fighters and get their cut.
Should be packed, a couple of hometown boys you can't go wrong. Problem today with promoters is they want the fights to be in Vegas all the time, maybe Golden boy will smarten up and start putting the fights where the fans will flock.
Mosley vs Mayorga will sell good in LA
Diaz vs Katsidis will sell good in Houston
Hatton had a huge turnout and gate in Manchester.

Pretty good, actually. If they sell anything over 6K, they are doing decent for both being not the BIGGEST of names and coming off of losses. Though, with fighters this exciting, you'd hope that it'd have a bigger arena and turn out. Nonetheless, the winner will have a lot more fans and be able to get the bigger arenas/venues and all that good stuff.
