We've seen him in the ring knocking people out left and right. He comes forward and follows a jab with a straight. He doesn't provide many angles and is pretty predictable, yet he is still unbeaten. If you were a trainer, how you prepare for Pavlik?
He can be beaten by any style. He gets confused if you throw a flurry, so any good volume puncher will slaughter him.
Hopkins has the perfect style against such a conventional 1, 1, 2 fighter like Kelly Pavlik. Hopkins feasted on conventional fighters by nullifying their jab, lateral movement, counter right hands and clinching when needed to. Too bad Hopkins is closing on 44 though. But yeah a good strong, tall fighter with a good jab like Kelly that has pop is hard to beat. IMO he's an Emmanuel Steward prototype of a fighter. Manny trains alot of his fighters to fight like Kelly. Klitschko, Cintron and his MW prospect Andy Lee. None of them are as talented as Kelly though.
i agree with the in and out and lateral movement
i also think taylor had what it took to beat him except the stamina
if taylor didnt get tired down the stretch of the fight i think he wouldve won
It would take a dancer to try and outpoint him, but would be a terrible fight to watch. I have much more respect for boxers like Pavlik who are there to FIGHT! I keep thinking of the fight when Cory Spinks danced around against Taylor and made me wish I hadn't paid to watch that BS!
At 6'2" and built like a bread stick , Kelly would have no problems at all at 168 , on the contrary he would probably hit harder .
stay at 147 and 154.

A really really hard chin and very good boxing ability............
I was surprised Pavlik was able to take the body shots from Taylor in the rematch. If they fought at 160 I don't think Pavlik would have stood up to them so well.
Sugar Ray Leonard style: "Dip, and slide" like he did against Hagler.
Really whoever is to beat Kelly would really just need to get in, land a few good combination punches and get out, use footwork and angles to offset Kelly's punching power. Whether Kelly is ordinary or not he'll knock you the fuck out if you're not constantly moving.
see thats why i felt that Calzaghe would make good work of Pavlik. It wouldn't be east, but I thought Calz would win a UD. but ovbiously, Calz is either scared or delusional about Pav's worth.

I agree... at all costs do not stand in front of pavlik, if you don't win, atleast you might go all 12 rounds.
