Hop would be an outstanding analyst. Fight hype is fight hype. In real life, he's a great guy with a great personality, and a damn genius when it comes to breaking down fight strategy and technique. Plus he's a great, articulate talker on camera.
You know who else would be a pretty good analyst is Joe Calzaghe. Overrated boxer, but good talker. Maybe they can be a broadcast team someday, how funny would that be. But one problem is no one in America would be able to understand his accent.
fan aside... i think roy was one of the best... that dude literally predicted exactly what would happen seconds before it would...
true true. who cares if he missed "meetings". it was hard enough to get dude to press conferences let alone stiff meetings at HBO hq. B-hop would be interesting but perhaps too contreversial as I'm sure he'd say something political, socialogical or about race that would get him in trouble... put roy and bernard commentating the same fight and you got yourself a show!
Not true. Im not a fan of Hops style, but I'd love to see him as a commentator. Joe Mesi is also another I would like to hear in the booth. He's verywell spoken.
Also he knows the sport of boxing inside and out. He speaks clearly and bluntly. He's done ESPN several times and he is always excellent.
BHop is not "street." That's an act. He's from a middle class/ upper middle class area of Philly.
LOL...
I remember your thread about this a few months back man..
Chill man, it's obvious you don't like Hopkins.. So be it..
Hopkins will always be remembered as a better fighter than Calzaghe..
And for the people saying hes racist, get real.. I'm white and I didn't care about the comments b/c they were said to hype the fight..
Some people are so fuckin sensitive
you wnt get a good response on this board about hopkins cause he doesnt fight face first so he's not a true warrior

Hopkins was a commentator for an ESPN show earlier this year, and did a damn good job. I'd go as far as saying, he's a much better commentator than Lennox Lewis (which may not be saying too much). I'd actually prefer Hops to Kellerman.
Bring back George Foreman
Beat me to it. George wasn't the best at it.... RJJ was better, but Big George's passion and general attitude is missed by me.
Bring back George Foreman
fuck george he was too biased... so is stewward and merchant.. i would love to see hopkins on there but it will never happen..
The truth is, Hopkins is one of the smartest fighters of any era..
This guy has always stuck to his gameplan..
As for idiots who think he was disrespectful to British media, Have you seen how they treated him?
Cmon man, Bhop is street. You disrespect him, he disrespects you.. I've seen footage of British media tryin to get cute and disrespect Hopkins..
--------------------------
He would make a good commentator with the exception of the occasional stuttering.. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this..
When Bhop has time to think about what he says, he sounds intelligent, and articulate as Outlaw mentioned..
The thing is, commentating is an improv so to speak, it happens you react.. Bhop doesn't have time to think and say what he wants without stuttering..
Now if he can quickly do this, and say things w/o stuttering, then he'd be the best boxer commentator..
I do like George, and Roy.. But they're a thing of the past.. They now have beefs with the network..
Bob Papa ain't bad, but he needs to brush up on his boxing knowledge..
Scully is a bit too CHILL and layed back.. He doesn't get excited..
Kellerman ain't too bad.. I like him..
Lampley - Decent at times, but very biased at times which makes me wanna slap that fuck..
Merchant - Aging legend, needs to go tho.. A bit too slow
Lewis - Get rid of that guy, he has no idea how to say intelligent thoughts..

Hopkins would be by far the best commentator of any boxer they have ever had on HBO. The major problem with it is that he has financial interests in quite a few top fighters with GBP. That presents a major conflict of interest.
I would like to see him take over Emmanuel stewards or lennox's spot on HBO, He's so experienced and skillful it would be intresting. :boxing:
Even me that hate b-hop will also like the idea.
He made an assesment of the Cotto-Mosley fight the video is in youtube and and made a really good one.
SO yes I'm up to it. he lately is becoming very well spoken ( when he is calm).
And I had to add ODLH will suck as a commentator.

it would be interestin as well as have potential to be hilarious
Most deffinatly.
I could see Hopkins getting into an argument with one of the others during a fight..
