he has the best record out of any light heavyweight,he only lost hopkins because he was weight drained, this is the guy that finished roy jones,he is back and he gonna become the undisputed champion,
how can calzaghe be the best lhw after one fight in the division that shit aint right
tarver is the man at 175
calzaghe would never wanna fight him. calzaghe only after what tarver finished
yeah dude, but then the guy comes out and tries to accuse team hopkins of poisoning him the night before the fight...
Fuccckkk your right....see i tried to give the guy some credit and well he shits all over himself....I mean I just dont get it you see guys who have lost controversial decisions over and over again and take it in stride and are graceful with your losses. Then you get ppl like Tarver and Hopkins who lose and cry...I really dont get it....
I thought back in 2004 when RJJR lost to Antonio Tarver inthe 2nd fight i was wondering what he would say. Here is the best fighter in the world who just got KTFO....and what does he do he says Tarver got me with a good shot, albeit it was a lucky punch, but when you throw a punch and it lands on the chin like this one did, you could say every KO punch is lucky. Then he comes back and losses to Glencoffe Johnson and again takes it like a man. The man who always had a big mouth was in favct humbled by his 2 losses in 2004.
Same thing goes for a fighter like Mosley, who was in the top 3 P4P @ the time of his first loss to Vernon Forrest. And quite frankly he told us in not the same words that he got his ass handed too him. No complaints, just men who knew they were beatin on that given night and were gracious in defeat.
It says a lot about a fighter when a man is humbled by a loss, I like Antonio Tarver, i've always thought that he's had great gifts, i also only wish he didnt start soo late cuz he could really have made some noise if he came in round the early 90's. But he needs to realize that a loss is a loss and you have to take it, move on, and become a better fighter!!
I think that the B-Hop fight really humbled him as he said you know what the better man won and theres nothing i can do about it. This shows that Tarver has maybe matured over the last 2 years......Quite frankly about time seeing as though the man is fuckin 39!!
yeah dude, but then the guy comes out and tries to accuse team hopkins of poisoning him the night before the fight...
Best record? When you're beating up on guys named Santiago and squeaking by bums like Muriqui, I wonder how he keeps his record squeaky clean
oh, and poor tarver was weigt drained? awwwwwww. shucks!
Who's got the excuses now Antonio?
Nahnahnahnahnah. Best Light Heavies at the moment based on latest wins?
1. Dawson - the true light heavy champ according to judges in florida
2. Calzaghe (who cares about the ring belt when all the defenses are super middleweight fights anyway at 170, or when you handpick your opponent for your only defense and refuse to face a legimate contender at light heavy)
3. B-Hop (man I'd like to place him at two, but the judges have spoken)
4. Johnson (had him beating Dawson 1st time around, but Dawson has learned and will cleanly outbox the old man in a rematch if it ever comes about a la Barrera-Juarez 2)
5. Tarver - congrats on looking halfway decent against woods. its about time!
6. Zsolst Erdei- however his name is spelled. but who cares- he aint fightin nobody.
7. Diaconu
8. Roy Jizzle
9. shaun george
I would agree with this list for the most part. Tarver really did get a weight drained Jones in the 1st fight, which noone can deny, and the man still lost. He doesn't continue a sustained attack over a 12 round prize fight. Which some fighters can do ala RJJR, but for someone like Antonio, I think that he needs to fight those full 12 rounds. His fight with Glencoffe Johnson were very close and both men were able to fight at a solid pace. They split the 2 fights and personally i think that both of those fights were the best that Antonio had to offer, although he maintains the 1st one was not. I think Antonioat time lacks the drive too what really makes him successful in this sport. I wanna see some heart out of him.
One thing that does get me going a lilttle as well,if you lose......you lose. What are you going to do. Pre Hopkins Antonio Tarver would rant and rave when the man lost. I think that the B-Hop fight really humbled him as he said you know what the better man won and theres nothing i can do about it. Tarver has much better wins at LHW than does Chad Dawson, and Calzaghe's one LHW victory is better than anything on Dawson's resume too. Right now Dawson is mostly potential. He looks to be a talented champion but he needs to prove it against someone like Tarver, Hopkins or Calzaghe.
Taver has recently been on the lossing end and is soon to be on his way out. Taver of course has the better wins and is more accomplished at lightt heavyweight overall but through the last couple of years, Dawson beat the better line of fighters. Who has Tarver beat in the last 2 years that was better than Johnson or Adamek?
I have also already explained how Calzaghe's one win over Hopkins doesn't make him the best in my book, its just not fair for one win over a 43 year old Hopkins is better than wins over two top 5 opponents and oen ranked at #10.
Chad Dawson is at the top. Tarver would need to beat him in order to convince that hes the best and he seems like he wants no part of Chad. Dawson has the better record through the last couple of years and is actually fighting the best fighters, unlike Tarver.

The worlds best light heavy weight is Chad Dawson..
Even including his last lackluster performance, Chad is the best right now..
If he stayed with senior he would be even better..

It is good to have a comedian in this forum!
Both Calzaghe and Dawson have offered to fight him, but he cleverly prices himself out of the market. Since he has no fan base to speak of, therefore no possible way of generating that kind of revenue, this is just a way of ducking a fight that he has a high probability of losing.

tarver is an excellent fighter,
some people in his camp say he is 215 for the rocky movie, thats alot of weight to cut, im sure he must have been drained when he fought hopkins,
is he best?
i dont know

tarver is a little too old now... he's lost a step
Tarver has only beat a unfocused and undetermined Woods since getting schooled by Hopkins, Calzaghe would UD him also.
he is not the best light heavy, At this stage Calzaghe is.
Best record? tarver 27-4 hahah
RJJ we all know he was shot then and weight drained
Best light heavy out there we cant tell yet, after jones vs calzaghe wel porbably know
thats an excellent record,
i thought he won the first johnson fight, i thought he could have beaten roy the first time, as for his loss to harding, he avenged that,
so if roy was weight drained was tarver, was tarver not drained for hopkins?
you know nothing

Antonio tarver lost the first fight to jones, then caught a lucky punch in the second which was the kind of punch jones has never been caught with before. Jones style could be partly to blame for this, but you cant expect to never get caught and sadly he got caught badly. He wasnt the same after this fight and even said his next few fights would be warm up fights. UD in tarvers favour for the third fight, but if you watch jones he still has it. Doesnt alwyas go your way as tarver learnt in the first fight.
Anyone who says it is because jones was on steroids, back up some real information about that , dont speak shite. from what i have learnt from actually researching it, He was taking legal over the counter supplements which had traces of androgen in them. Taking them does not make you one of the best P4P boxers in the world.
Tarver and glen johnson are both hard hitters and if you get hit square in the chin by one of them you dont really have any option but to go down. Roy learnt from this as you can see from his new defence style
Gonna be a very close match on september, we will just have to wait and see if jones still has the heart and agression he once had as it did not show in the tito fight.
basically what i said earlier,
i think tarver should try and back calzaghe up, he is physically stronger, he was really dominant coming forward against roy.
he has a very good jab, good power in his left hand, i dont think he would need to respect calzaghe`s power, i think he could walk him down.
i think calzaghe would struggle with his reach,
add to the that im not really sure if calzaghe has fought many, if any, southpaws
i just think tarver would probably be the hardest fight out there for him
That's a good assesment, However consider..
Kessler is very strong, strong than Tarver? maybe, and he walked into Calzaghe, not respecting his power. Calzaghe prefers it when a fighter comes to him as opposed to backing up like Hopkins did.
Joes chin is good, so i doubt that Tarver would really be able to hurt him that much.
Tarver us getting older now, and his legs are weaker. I think Joe would make him work at a high rate and Tarver would tire. Then Joe would out work him over the distance to win a decision.
