Watching the fights on Showtime last night always makes me mad because I wish I could see Floyd fight against guys like that. Ive always said that because Arum didnt get him the big money, fame, or PPV fights then Floyd decided to chase down Oscar and move up way too often when he wasnt meant to. I still say that I have no doubt in my mind that Floyd fights everyone at WW if it were the 140 pound division. Its just that 147 is his cut off point. He can still win at WW & 154 because he is that good but it also wouldnt be a shock to see him lose at those divisions just due to the weight.
I mean, how many people out there really think Margarito is better then Floyd? No one does. Even the die hard Margarito fans would admit that but alot of people still think Margarito could win. Why? Its strictly due to size. People even admit it without admitting it. Some of the writers who constantly rip Floyd will also say in another story how Floyd isnt a real WW. Manny Steward always rips Floyd but even he says that he doesnt think anyone will beat Floyd except for the "huge" WW's. Thats why I still think Floyd and his team are so hesitant. I think they all think they will win but it is a possibility of him losing just because of the size and they dont want to lose like that. They want to lose because someone is better, not just bigger. I was watching Tszyu-Mitchell the other night and it gave me chills. I wouldve given anything to see a Tszyu-Floyd matchup and I honestly believe that if Hatton didnt pull the upset then we wouldve seen it.
Tszyu is also huge but Floyd can handle himself at that weight way better and he's still not outweighed by a ton like he is at WW. Do people think that Floyd never wouldve fought Cotto at 140? He wouldve easily did it and Im not talking about just because Cotto was young or not as good. Its different because Cotto is only like 152-155 at 140 while Floyd is 145 but at WW Floyd is still only like 146 and Cotto is now at 162 which is what all of those guys are. It changes everything. Forget big fights like Cotto, Im even talking about regular fights. I would love to see Floyd fight Peterson, Torres, Holt, Malignaggi, and so on. Its funny because every single one of those guys are bigger then Floyd if you watch them in the ring. You can easily see it but yet everyone would think they were way too small for WW but Floyd isnt?
Its upsetting because we could see the exciting Floyd. Everyone rips him for his fights but there mostly always just thinking about Oscar & Baldy who are easily the 2 biggest guys he's fought. Anyone even near his size then he is very offensive. He would be unbeatable at 140 even if all the great WW's were there. Think of how great his action fights would be against the 140 pounders out there now? At 147 though he has to pretty much fight very defensive to make up for the size and will pretty much have to fight going backwards. Tszyu is a man and is as strong as an ox but I think all of us can picture Floyd throwing alot or punches against him and being aggressive or atleast not moving & pot shotting. But against Margarito he cant really fight that way without putting himself in harms way strength wise.
All Im saying is that everyone would be looking at him differently if he was still at 140, even if all the best talent were there. The size would be much more compatible and you would see all his skill come to the forefront as he would be way more Offensive. Then no one would argue about his status in history as a special fighter but at WW he just cant fight that way. The funny thing is that all the fighters even admit it but no one else can understand it. Williams always use to say that all the guys want Floyd because he isnt a real WW. Cintron said that Floyd is too small to be up there. Oscar said that Floyd isnt the same fighter at WW due to the size and Hatton said that he wouldnt fight any other WW but would fight Floyd because he clearly is the smallest guy there and doesnt belong. Why cant the media or haters see that?
Too many excuses made about size regarding Floyd. If Floyd is having a problem with size at 147, why even fight there and win a championship in the first place? Why fight an aged DLH at 154, but not the prime contenders at welter?
I forgot to add the Floyd-Pac part. If Floyd was like Pac then things would even be perfect. By that I mean if he could keep packing on the weight. If he came into the ring at WW weighing like 158 and having it look & feel natural then there is no way he would have a problem fighting these guys. The Tszyu-Mitchell fight was sick though. I felt so bad for Mitchell. I know I was the only one but he wanted that fight so bad for so long and to have him get totally demolished was so embarrasing. You could tell that it was different then a normal loss. You could look at his face and see how stupid and embarrased he felt after each knock down and how he was like, "man what have I gotten myself into".
I respect Pac alot but I just think people overlook the fact that he's huge. He moves up and has been the biggest guy in the division at every weight class. Also, most of the guys he's fought are also guys who have moved up and are clearly smaller then him. He's fought MAB, EM, and JMM in like 3 weight classes. He finally isnt the biggest guy at this weight but he's still just as big as the others. Floyd is always the smallest guy at every weight since his 1st yet he still keeps moving up but these guys at WW are huge now. I agree with those who say he's not done. I think he'll be back but Im not a 100% sure that a Cotto-Floyd fight would be great. It could still be really boring
OK, honestly, forget who you like more, who you hate, who you cheer for, and forget if your PR or Black. Do you honestly, in your heart of hearts, believe that Cotto can beat Floyd, much less KO him?
Cotto DOESNT beat Floyd......period.
Wrong bro, the sopranos isn't over yet. Movie's always come after an ending like that.
I don't know about the Sopranos, but I did hear we're getting an Arrested Development movie! :cool3:
Yeah, but I dont think FLoyd's career is over eithet. They're pulling a "Hancock". Take him away for a while, then people will want to see him, then when he comes back, he will be greatful and not the same FLoyd we know. He will do a complete 180 and be more reflective and humble. i bet you anything. so people will love him when he goes.
I heard hancock totally sucked ass.
The difference is that The Sopranos is really over. Floyd's career really isn't. I'll put up my points on that one.

GREAT POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the truth unlike Boof. My only regret is that his career is like a good movie with a bad ending. It has every element about it, the action, the witty humor, the good actors, but has an ending that you either dont get or sucks.
His career is pretty much like the Sopranos, great show, maybe one of the best ever, but the ending pretty much left you scratching your head and wanting more. But that was it, it was over just like that. Or even I Am Legend, great movie, but the ending came kind of quick and out of pace, and out of the blue. Left you kind of empty.
Kinda like "what the fuck just happened? That's it?"

My only regret is cotto not bein able to knock mayweather out cause he retired but I hope he comes back so it can happen.. Good post tho..
