In general, which fans are more capable of overlooking the race of a fighter?

huh??? calzaghe beat up a 43 year old hopkins and is going to beat up the shell of the shade of rjj. that's like pac coming back at 36 to fight castillo and casamayor both of whom will probably be in their 40s. he's ducking pavlik, the one last real threat to him (and I believe calzaghe would win that fight). How can you be ducking someone who competes two divisions below you? I like Pavlik better than Joe, but this accusation is just ridiculous.

I voted wrong. It works both ways though, but generally the fan will lean towards the black fighter because of race. Look back at some of the posts in the Pavlik/Miranda threads.

I'll answer a question with a question: why did calzaghe say in his book that he wouldn't fight RJJ and fight Pavlik, but then now decide that he will fight RJJ and not fight Pavlik??? I don't think he mentions Kelly Pavlik in his book. The fight with Pavlik can't take place unless Pavlik moves up past super-middleweight which and he has yet to fight at that weight.

Which is it? Obviously there's more white fans than Black on this forum so I expect that to be reflected in the poll results. Though obviously those that can take it for granted that their ethnic group has a disproportionate representation of legendary champions and HOFers, aren't exact looking for the next hope and can deal with a loss among their own while not obsessing over a win (ala, Pavlik, Calzaghe). With that said, obviously Blacks have less invested in terms of ethnic pride in their fighter.

To get respect from majority of Black People you have to be able to do shit Black People can Identify with....
