Ive been hearing from a bunch of sources lately that this fight very well may in the making for later on this year.
Good test for Berto, deffinately time to step up. He looks incredible when he fights, but i need to see him against better comp before im sold on him. Collazo isnt the best, but a very solid test.
Berto fights a little like Mosley, and Mosley schooled Collazo, so stylistically that could mean something. But Berto has also never fought at that level. And Collazo hasnt been very active lately while Berto is steady fighting.
I think the way to beat Andre Berto is too apply smart pressure on him, dont allow him to do his thing. Something i think Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito could do. I dunno about Collazo.
Deffinately an interesting fight.

BERTO!!!
He beats Collazo....Luis can't hurt him so it's safe to say he can't beat him.
a southpaw can always catch you and Berto hasnt exactly looked like Hagler either when it comes to the chin

EXPLAINS ALL....I SAW ANDRE BERTO AT MANDALAY BAY LAST WEEKEND AFTER THE PACQUIAO FIGHT...HE SAID IT IS ALMOST A DONE DEAL VERSUS COLLAZO(#1 WBC CONTENDER) IN THE FALL ON HBO
Ive always said that the perfect fight for Berto is Sharmba Mitchell. The problem in the WW division is that its so deep that its even scary for a young guy to step up to even the 2nd level. Thats why I would have 1 fight with a guy like Mitchell and then go to the 2nd level. There is no way I would put him in with a skilled guy like Collazo who is also a Southpaw. People keep talking about the Mosley fight but that was on very short notice. This will be a supremely dangerous fight for Berto and I think its a bad move by his managment. Most young guys get upset because they have there step up fight against a skilled southpaw
Good step up for Berto but I dont think hes ready for Collazo.I think Collazo beats him like Raheem beat Morales, boxer (Collazo) vs. boxer/puncer (Berto) who is looking ahead to bigger fights.
Good call. I'm looking forward to this match-up. I'd like to see what Berto can do against Collazo. Also interested in seeing if Collazo wil remain a 147 stepping stone.
I'm going with Berto UD.
Absolutely.. I wish Berto the best of luck.
He has shown flashes of brilliance, but hasn't fought a GOOD fighter as of yet..
He needs to up that competition..
I hope him and his handlers don't take the easy route (Ie Abraham until recently)
I want a fighter that is willing, and that wants to fight the best..

Berto by UD. Collazo couldn't finish Ricky Hatton.
Somebody bump the thread where I said that COLLAZO would be the best fight for Berto as of now.
Good matchmaking.. It's a STEP up finally, to fight a legit top 10 welter..
Collazo is not the best in the division, but hes not to far from it..
Good fight for sure..
Only thing is, He is a SOUTHPAW

This should be very real because Collazo is highly rated in the WBC, I am pretty sure it went 1 Berto, 2 Mikki Rodriguez, 3 Collazo. It is a very nice step up for Berto, easily his biggest challenge to date, very interesting fight.
Hopefully the lack of action lately for Collazo will not hurt him to much, but he should be highly motivated to get a big time win on HBO and get back in the 147 mix.
berto will not step up to the plate against collazo. like i said in another thread berto's handlers are gonna take the easy road. i actually beleive these guys sparred before, collazo used him as a partner to help him prepare against mosely.
