tua,
at 130, pacquiao would have definitely lost to:
alexis arguello
alfredo escalera
diego corrales
floyd mayweather jr.
jorge barrios
joan guzman
azumah nelson
edwin rosario
the following fighters would have given him hell and might have beat him:
genaro hernandez
cornelius boza edwards
samuel serrano
acelino freitas
john john molina
listen, i'm not trying to put down pacquiao because he truly is a great fighter and champion but to think he can beat the fighters i mentioned above is just ludicrous.
i judge by resume. 4 wins against 3 hofers matters a lot even if you don't have that many fights there.
i don't like to judge head to head when discussing atg.
example. head to head floyd jr. would beat manny. but resume wise floyd did not beat a single HOFer at 130 at least off the top of my head that i could remember.
you make good points , just different way of seeing things. i do not see how you think guzman and barrios could beat manny. sounds funny to me.
jcc sr.
i hope you rate manny higher than jr.
yeah, i meant to say chavez sr.
i think pacquiao is a great fighter for the moment but no way is he even in the top five of any weight division he won his titles at!
correction.
manny has better chances at cracking top 5 at 130 and no chance 122.
manny's only significant fight is lehlo and julio at 122.
at 122 you have gomez , barrera , morales , vazquez (wilfredo) and zaragoza
at 126 you got pep , sanchez , saddler.
but manny's only significant fights 126 was barrera and the marquez draw.
his best chance is 130. arguello is better but he belongs up there with alexis and elorde , etc.
manny also has 4 of his wins with the great 3 at 130.

that's debatable. maybe top 5 at 122 or 130.
problem is he started out at fly and didn't stay in any of the 122-130 divisions long.
he has the titles in different divisions going for him though.
I believe you can only be considered for ATG status once you've retired. Pacquiao could go and achieve even greater success, e.g he could clean up at 135, drop back to 130 and take on Valero or beat Hatton at 140.
right now i would put pacquiao at #50 or so as an ATG. certainly below roberto duran, julio cesar chavez jr., alexis arguello, salvador sanchez, wilfredo gomez, or ricardo lopez.

i hope you rate manny higher than jr.
how many boxers can say they got 5 titles in 5 divisions (3 lineal)?
how many boxers had a flyweight title (lineal) and also had one at superfeatherweight (lineal) or lightweight (ABC)?
how many boxers can say they beat 3 guys that are also in the HOF?
not too many. he's in very good company.
we'll see how high he comes depending on what he does in the next few years.
