Who do you feel is a better representative of the #1 P4P Status and why?
cue the idiot who will post that I'm obsessed with even though this would be my second thread related to him in months. some kids are just to sensitive :(
Pacquiao is keeping boxing alive by contributing more to the sport. Mayweather retired in his prime, avoided a couple of fighters that would've given him some major problems, couldn't really satisfy fans, all he cared about is his perfect record, and would do everything (retire) to stay pretty.
Floyd Mayweather Jr is a selfish prick. He is disgrace to the sport.
A friend once told me, "being #1 ain't no privilege, it is a virtue and a constant struggle"
Since that guy was black I had to vote for Floyd Mayweather.
Constant struggle and Floyd Mayweather can't be in the same sentence, not unless you're talking about Jr. and Sr.
I voted Floyd for similar reasons others have done so. When I think of, not necessarily unbeatable, but close to it I think of Floyd. He was a technician of the highest order.
I think Pacquiao is a better representative for the sport in the sense of his style being so fan-pleasing in general... but I don't think being the representative for the sport and p4p #1 should be synonymous with each other.I agree 100%. Plus Pacquiao didn't earn the #1 spot by beating his opponents, it was handed to him when Floyd retired.

I'm going to have to go with Floyd for the simple fact that P-4-P means how a guy with any skillset would compete with guys in any weight class. It would be harder to beat a guy with Floyd's skills than it would to beat a Manny-like fighter. We've seen what it takes to beat Manny through Erik Morales. Just because Manny is a more likeable person, doesn't mean he is better p-4-p.
Pacquiao by a country mile, he isn't afraid to face the best.
Who cares if he has a loss on his record, hes bounced back and he will go down as one hell of a fighter.
I said if Cotto remains unbeaten and emerges as the undisputed best welterweight, Floyd will likely come back to fight him.
But it doesn't have to be Cotto.
It's whoever emerges as the biggest possible fight to put the final stamp on Floyd's career.
That could be Cotto. It may not be.
My direct reference to a 'legacy' here
was an ironic jab at the claims made by some of Cotto's fans that their boy's achievements in the sport will ultimately surpass Floyd's.
The detractors reports are contradictory.
You say it's because he wanted to pull out of a De La rematch?
I suppose that makes a funny change from the 'ducking Cotto' partyline.
Floyd wanted a break, period. That much is clear.
If you think he isn't entitled to it, you're fucked up.
Like every 'retirement' in the history of the sport has been legit.
As if Floyd was ever looking for the absolute perfect fight name to end his career with. That DLH rematch was gonna be that name? Fuck no... So that point is moot. The biggest possible fight is obviously Cotto, and that's even without that Margarito rematch.
I was referring to some Cotto fans' claims that Cotto will achieve more in the sport ultimately than Floyd has, when Miguel has almost hit his ceiling already.
For the record, Baldomir was about the lineal welterweight championship.
After De La Hoya, Floyd transcends the rat race. He's doing it on his terms.
Hatton was a $$$ fight, pure and simple.
That said, some people wanted it.
As for what Floyd's game is right now.
I truly believe he wanted a break. He earned it. But I think he is waiting for one of these welterweights to emerge as the undisputed force in his break period.
Then he will be back, to make the biggest fight possible.
I could be wrong. But that's what I think the plan is.
No, what you SAID was that Floyd will fight Cotto if Cotto continues to build his legacy.
So I guess that now Floyd is supremely focused on fighting opponents who have the best legacies?
And the funny thing is that even a fan like acknowledges that Floyd's retirement is bullshit. That he did it to pull out of that sideshow rematch. The sad thing is that you accept it like it's normal. That is the absolute peak of blind worship.
mayweather. Pacs boring and is easily beatable, its just theres hardly any real decent fighters about. Compared to mayweather, pacmans talent is dreadfull, mayweather is superior to pac in every way possible.
Some1 needs to step up and expose this little pacman fool, hes a shit fighter.
mayweather pisses on pac

cue the idiot who will post that I'm obsessed with even though this would be my second thread related to him in months. some kids are just to sensitive :(Simple. The guy with no "0". I like Pacquiao but he's no Floyd. Ring-intelligence is what separates the two.

this dude is furious.
Most people expect Floyd to beat Cotto as well. So what's your point?
If Floyd is hungry to box again, if Cotto beats Margarito and continues to build this amazing legacy his fans say he gonna build, Mayweather-Cotto will likely happen.
If Cotto gets sorely beat down by Margarito, Cotto gonna go out of a lot of folks' heads real quick.
If by now, Floyd is still saying that the number 1 fighter in the division needs to build a 'legacy', then idk what he has to do.
What legacy did Baldomir have?
Did Hatton have a better legacy than Cotto? Even at that point? Please.
You can't have double standards for every other fight.
