Many people on here regard Ottke as a joke but was he really that bad?
Sven Ottke turned pro late after wins over Antonio Tarver, Chris Byrd, Michael Moorer, Zsolt Erdei and Juan Carlos Gomez to name a few finishing with 256-47-5 in the Amateurs. After turning pro he debuted on a 6 rounder against not so bad opponents and fought his first 10 rounder after only 8 fights, I think the decent opponents early contributed to his lack of KOs on his record which is fair enough, right?
Whilst Ottke was obviously not an unbeatable fighter, he still managed to rack up quite a few good wins; Glen Johnson, Anthony Mundine, Charles Brewer (x2), Byron Mitchell, Mads Larsen and Robin Reid.
Albeit he had some very close decisions at times, he certainly isn't a bum as he is frequently made out on here. WAR OTTKE!
Why do you always bring up "fruit" or "gay"? You seem to be obsessed with homosexuality.
I didn't make the connection between the word "fruit" and the alternative sexualities. You did that...
He gets ridiculed a lot because he's been a unified title holder, but he's not black and American. In some peoples' minds, a boxer needs to be black and American or else he's not really any good!
That's the sad truth of it. :sad2:
Typically I do agree with you, but this doesn't apply to Ottke. His fights with Mitchell, Johnson and particularly Robin Reid, were Reid was penalized for punching Ottke in the face, were disgusting.
Mayweather has been very protected, never fighting outside the US for his title fights. He's had his home refs (Cortez) and judges (Floyd vs. Castillo I).
But we don't hear much about THAT...
We hear a ton about that, get a grip. Yeah there's a world conspiracy, African Americans make up the illuminati which is why they are all so damn wealthy and Wladimir Klitschko would hold every belt in every weight class if it wasn't for a sinister cadre of jive-talking pimps holding him back from his birthright.
For the record I think Cortez is fishy but it has nothing to do with black or white and everything to do with green.

You really are an utter fruit aren't you?
Ottke was a very successful amateur who made his style work in the pros.
I will give him credit for being a crafty defensive boxer but his lack of offense makes me doubt his chances against any of the greats on neutral grounds.
You should hate him though because he held up Calzaghe from unifying the titles. Just one of those situations when neither would come to the other one's home country to fight...
Tribute to the 'Slugger' Sven.
Well, I'll pay you that's for sure, I have in mind The pikey from Snatch or Brad Pitt.
I think you could do smth cool with it. What do you say?
i`ll see what i can do,
give me a day or so,
its getting late so ill do it tomorrow morning
When Ottke fights, it's like christmas in whatever month he fights in. The judges might as well have a santa beard and hat on.
:haha::haha:
i may sig that

Jesus Christ, bro. Ricky Hatton's father could have been the ref of that fight, Hatton was getting knocked the fuck out. Stop with the Cortez nonsense already.
And if you're suggesting that Floyd vs. Castillo I was a robbery, then we'll end this conversation now.
In the US, atleast they don't rob obvious knockdowns (big knockdowns, not whimpy ones like Mayweather-Judah) and then deduct a point to the other guy a couple seconds later.
Also, Hopkins wasn't protected. He fought everyone out there at Middleweight. Even if you think he was, Bernard and Mayweather haven't got like 6 billion gift decisions.

Hey I love the sig that you've done. You've made the coolest sig and it's John Ruiz, that's impressive. Do you take sig request?

i dont really take requests but i could try making another good one

Ottke was an excellent fighter its rumoured he got more than his fair share of homecooking. Traveling wasn't his thing. Still, can't argue with his accomplishments - he does have some pretty decent names on his dossier while they were still pretty decent. A shame he and Calzaghe couldn't ever get it together.
Yeah, it's because he's not black, or American. Get the mother fuck outta here. Let's not forget how protected he was. Or the fact that he got how many (?) gift wrapped decisions? I'm not saying he wasn't talented. But the whole "because he wasn't black or American" is just grasping at fucking straws. Everything HAS to be about race, or nationality, eh?

absolutely, it is a sad reality
Holy shit. This is actually a Ricky post I agree with.
The whole "Ottke is an overrated retard" thing is ridiculous. Sure he was boring and a little protected but he was technically a very good fighter.
