Pavlik is lucky that Calz side stepped him IMO i dont get all these clowns jumping on the Calz is ducking Pavlik argument ,most of the people on NSB pre Pavlik v Lockett were of the same opinion that Calz would beat Kelly anyway ,to many angles to much movement etc
why are these people now trying to make out that Pavlik would of owned him and thats why Calz is ducking him dont u think u are being a bit hypocritical
BTW im not saying they should not fight or making excuses for Calz i just cant get my head around these fickle fans that change their argument to suit them
side step is another word for ducking by user terrible
Okay ducking i dont give a shit about what terminology u wanna use as im not a Calzaghe fan and it think what he has done is a bitch move and i would not support it because i dont agree with what Floyd Mayweather has been doing however that is not what i was talkng about is it
So what if Joe was going to fight Jermain at Super Middleweight? You think Kelly wouldn't pack on 8lbs right now for the chance to fight Joe? He packe don 6 just to give Jermain his special rematch. Kelly wants to fight the best. Joe wants to fight the oldest and richest.
Could some one please explain all the Pavlik hate?
Most of the hate is and always has been directed at Calzaghe for a decade now. I'm a huge Calzaghe fan, but I also like Pavlik and respect his accomplishments at MW. Kelly is a nice kid, has good power and a huge heart. I think JC fans just get tired of a new hurdle he has to jump to get the respect he's deserved for nearly a decade. If Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins cant get him respect I know for a fact that beating Pavlik will not give him any more respect from Americans, they will make excuses and find another fighter (Dawson mot likely) to say JC has to beat or he's ducking.
I don't see why Pavlik is lucky Calzaghe ducked him, its moves like that that are bad for boxing. You get a young knock out artist in the game and suddenly he can't find good competition because of cowards and businessmen.
I don't expect the world to align like it should, but for Calzaghe, who really didn't come into the P4P spotlight until he was 13 years and 40 fights deep into his career, who expects to leave the sport percieved as an all time great, you would think he needs this fight.
His opportunity to fight Jones Jr. came and went years ago. That is, when the fight was a meaningful bout, and not the disapointment it has become. We have had the ability to look deeper into Joe's mind, and we know that his ultimate goal is to remain undefeated. Before his 41st bout, none of the gatekeepers saw Joe as a special fighter.
That should tell us something. The problem with Joe Calzaghe is that although his current record is 45-0, and he is 36 years of age, he feels more like a rising prospect beginning to prove his greatness. And yet his proposed last fight is against a boxer 3 years his senior, the veteran of a long and illustrious career, a man he could have challenged years ago.
Joe Calzaghe is a great boxer, but he will not gain the all time great status he's handily crafted himself to be.
i agree he should fight Pavlik and it is bad for Boxing all i was saying was some people who are predicting Pavlik to beat him are the same people that said he would not stand a chance about 3/4 months ago whats changed their opinion Gary Lockett LOL
or is this all a stick to beat Calzaghe with

Kelly might not have the career legacy that Roy Jones does, but he's certainly the bigger threat to Calzaghe's undefeated streak. Joe Calzaghe was willing to drop down to Middleweight to fight Jermain Taylor after seeing Jermain's piss-poor performance against smaller opponets in Ouma and Spinks.
But once Kelly mopped the floor with him, Joe jumped from Jermain to Roy like there were hot coals underneathe his feet.
Joe can do whatever he wants, I don't care, he's old, looked bad last time out, and he's at the end of his career. But 20 years from now people will remember Calzaghe as a great Champion who avoided the toughest challenge of his career, in order to depart from the sport richer, and with his stupid "0" intact.
Calzaghe was always going to fight Taylor at SMW. Taylor wanted 5 million and was going to get it, then suddenly (like Hopkins 5 years ago) he comes back wanting 10 million and then there was no way to make the fight. There was only a 10 million pot to be split and JC was not going to fight him for free.
Calzaghe has always said that he wanted to fight Jones next, then Warren also mentioned Pavlik as a fall back fight while negotiating with Jones. Calzaghe is a LHW Champion and Pavlik is a MW Champion so it's not like he's a mandatory or something that JC is avoiding. If Pavlik can really bring JC a 10 million dollar payday, I've no doubt he will fight him at LHW if Pavlik wants it. The fight will also have to be in Wales since the Jones fight looks like it will be in the USA, and JC will want his final fight to be at home.
Calzaghe has said he's retiring for a couple of years now, but he's never been in a position for these huge paydays until his win over Hopkins which I think was barely over 5 million. Jones is estimated to get Calzaghe and Roy close to 20 million a piece. That's as much as JC has made in his entire career so it would be foolish to turn the opportunity to face a legend that's also his contemporary, that's why Lewis also fought Tyson, to beat a legend and get a career payday.

I don't know where you got that from but there is absolutely no way Calzaghe would have even contemplated dropping to 160 to fight Taylor. He might have met him at a catch weight.

The fight should happen but there are other possible fights to be made against the likes of Abraham, Winky, Kessler, Sturm, Bute and others so it's not a huge loss.
I don't think it's a good idea for Calzaghe to retire against an over the hill Jones though, he will be criticized a lot for that.
Kessler rocked Calzaghe. Pavlik would put him to sleep.
thats if Kelly could find Calz with his right hands
Pavlik got hit plenty by Bronco McKart if i remember right and he is a southpaw aswell and is /was shot
maybe Kelly should be P4P 1 after all he does have Gary Locketts name on his resume
I thought he already was. That performance against Lockett was ATG level.
Kessler rocked Calzaghe. Pavlik would put Calzaghe to sleep, and his daddy knows. Hence the Ozzy Osbourne babble in the interview about why he's ducking Pavlik.
Preaching to the choir. Pavlik has missed out on the opportunity to become the new Jeff Lacy in the eyes of his American fans.

BTW im not saying they should not fight or making excuses for Calz i just cant get my head around these fickle fans that change their argument to suit them
Watch the Pavlik fans flock....
