Is Pacquiao being P4P number one based on beating a Fringe Opponent?

He was ranked number 2 behind Mayweather when Mayweather was active, now that Mayweather is retired he should be ranked number 1 because he has fought and more often than not beaten top class opposition in the last 3 or 4 years. Barrera x2, Morales x2, Marquez and he has moved up a weight class and beat up, dominated the WBC titlist. If that doesn't make him pound for pound number 1, I don't know what does.

Pacman is P4P #1 because he has listed a huge resume of great wins. He beat the 3 Mexican featherweight legends. He won a title at 135 after starting at... 108 and winning a title at 112 (which proves his competitiveness at that weight class). Not only did he win the 135 belt, he completely stomped Diaz (or so I'm told, I didn't see the fight). Just incredible. He would get my vote over Floyd for P4P #1 now if Floyd were still around. I was never comfortable putting Pacquiao over Floyd until now... I just don't think Mayweather has an argument to be #1, since his claim to fame is winning belts in so many multiple divisions. Now with Mayweather being retired he takes the thrown as P4P number 1. He imo is the best p4p 1 fighter in the world but think about it. It is weird. Beats Barrera great win. Beats a shot Barrera, loses to what was left of a prime morales, Beats the shot morales two more times. Then has two arguable losses to Marquez. I think Pacman won the 1st fight only due to knockdowns but not the 2nd. Anyways i think he still has a lot to do for me like fight a legit fighter whos in his prime. The fights were a draw and a split decision win over JMM. Do we have to discuss this again. You know, the media have JMM winning but said that it was a closed fight that could have gone either way. The win by Pac was not a robbery. They also said that the judges saw it the way they call it and the decision must be stand and respected. Even the fans say the same thing, not a robbery. Lets not forget about that lone judge in the 1st fight who said he made a mistake on the 1st round. Correct that mistake and guess who would have won by split decision.

No. It's cummulative. Pacquiao was already high on all pound for pound lists - he retired Barrera, then we saw him rematch Marquez - a very good fighter- and win a close decision. Then, he beat the shit out of a lightweight champion, moving up in weight, and regardless of what you think of him. It establishes him as pound for pound best in Floyd's absence if you ask me.
