When are they going to give this kid a quality fighter? He has 37 Pro fights and I couldn't tell you (or care) anything about who he's fought. I was really looking forward to the proposed Alfonso Gomez fight, but since then he's become a regular on Top Rank PPVs (which my cable company doesn't even pick up).
Are they trying to protect him and eventually move him up in weight? Come down to Welter?
Young? Dude is 22... Do you know at what age Morales and Barrera went pro? Do you know how many easy fights they had before having to step it up?
Oh come on man 22 is a baby in boxing, he has at least 5 years before he STARTS his prime. The kid is doing it the way his daddy did it, no amatuer fights, going straight to pro, and learning as he goes while fighting often.
And to be fair its not like all of his competition are bums, and its not like he hasnt performed well.
That all said yes he will be moving to Middleweight, he has had tons of trouble making 154 and his young body is sure to grow. I say there is nothing wrong with him stepping up the quality of his comp little by little over the next couple years, its not like its gonna be that much longer before he has a big fight.
Give him 2-3 years and 10 fights-ish and I am pretty sure we will see him in with the big boys.
I am still not very impressed with him and would like to see him take a step up in class in terms of his opponents.
I think he'll lose once he steps up though.

or if your margarito u go pro at 15.... y because your chingon.... anyways... what about this new opponent what does anyone know about him othe than he has 38 W and 6 L... is he JCC Jr. toughest comp. to date would you say
Margarito is one of a kind
Chavez is young with no amateur experience. He is learning as he goes give the young kid a break.

I know dude doesn't have an amateur record but cut the umbilical cord already! There are some Mexican fighters (most I should say) that don't have amateur experience and have to go pro at age 18... they don't get 30 fights.. they get maybe 15-20 easy ones then get thrown in there on the world level. They have babied JCC Jr. wayy too much.

they probably wont for a long time. Once Top Rank realized they make a lot of money with their Latin Fury PPVs with him as a headliner then the plans changed for Jr. Arum couldn't get the dates he wanted so he said fuck off to HBO and now he is raking in money because of it.
the Latin Fury PPVs are making TR money because there is almost no overhead other than paying the fighters. They share the TV feed with TV Azteca so there is no production costs to it.
I dont think we will see Jr face anyone of note for a while

You have to remember, even though he has 37 fights he still is very young. A fighter that has that many fights is usually in his late 20's to early 30's by now. JCC Jr. is still a baby in that reguard, maybe he hasn't physically matured yet.
I think the leap will come soon though.
