Undefeated light heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe is a promotional and managerial free agent, ending his twelve year association with Frank Warren. Calzaghe was quoted in British press as saying that he is the only person authorized to negotiate his future fights. You should not be surprised if a formal announcement for a fight between Calzaghe and former pound for pound king Roy Jones Jr is made shortly.
You heard it here first, son.
the hype for this fight will be bigger I believe than Joe vs. Bhop. This will be a great fight with tons of drama. I'm rooting for Roy all the way, he's just one of those underdogs in this point of his career where u want him to get his glory back.
i dont think it will have the drama, but be more intriguing...
roy isnt a shit talker like bernard is...
and joe isnt normally a shittalker either, only when bernard ran his mouth joe talked back...

how do u know he isnt?
I've seen tens of interviews be they text, video, audio, on-line, on the tv, in print media over this year alone whereby Joes increasingly leaned towards the idea of being his last fight. He's never been much of a big talker or promoter which many criticise him for, but it at least points to it being unlikely he's making retirement plans and not meaning them, and intending on sticking to them.
Say what you want about him, he doesn't say shit for kicks, certainly not on serious matters and over and over. Ppl were cynical on injuries around the times of a possibly Johnson fight, and having to postpone Lacy, they were clearly valid issues that have hindered him.
He's been careful to say they could be famous last words, but increasingly of late asked for an honest answer in interviews, even on tv, he's said it looks likely this could be his last fight.
I'm as cynical as the next guy but based on all the above, not on this one. Realistically he's retiring this year and ppl need to start getting used to the idea as ducking Pavlik and whoever are less valid when he's long been transparent about his likely last fight and retirement.
One more fight me arse! Joe has a chance of making some serious money for himself.
Joe will have at least three or four fights before even thinking about hanging them up for good. Splitting with Warren has opened up a lot of doors for Joe.
calzaghes main aim is to retire undefeated, it would devastate him otherwise,
jones is the easiet route to that and the best money,
watch video, above, hes having 1 more fight!
I still think Joe will fight Pavlik if the 10 million dollar offer is true.

I never believed for a second that Joe would fight anyone else. When both parties want a fight that is going to make serious money, you just know it's going to happen. Pavlik can fight middleweights, he had nothing coming.
There's nothing solid to suggest it's going to be announced imminently. Calzaghe's only just announced he's ditching Frank Warren. I can't imagine he himself was personally in discussions with Roys ppl whilst under Warren, that doesn't make sense and isn't him. It'll be a week or two at least imo, during which he'll be in contact with Roys people about perhaps a different slice of the pie having ridded of Warrens slice. I'll hold em up if it's this week, but just can't see it.

in his time i belive roy would have beat calzaghes welsh arse around the ring,
.................................but his time is gone, calzaghe wins this easy
Perhaps he will. He hasn't said for sure that he won't.
It makes sense to fight Jones first, since that will be the bigger payday and probably make Joe financially secure for the rest of his life.
Yeh, Good point but it seems unlikely he will fight both.
If he fights Jones, Ill watch for the hell of watching a fight, I don't really care for either but if he fights Pavlik ... Now thats worth a watch.
