I've got so much more respect for this guy after Saturday night than ever before.
He just kept on coming after Khan, and made the fight exciting to watch.
He took some big shots consectutively but still kept coming, either he's mentally insane or just a true champion. I reckon he would have gone 12 rounds if the ref didn't stop it for his safety.
He knocked Khan down to the canvas which I really didn't expect and I think has put a few questions over Khan's head with regards to his chin, defence and even punching power. My hat goes off to him and I would have liked for Gomez to get at least 8-9 rounds from the fight.
I would have liked to see a prime Gomez vs Khan, just to see how Khan could deal with the pressure fighting for 12 rounds.
I also think Khan is in no way ready for a WTF or even a world class fighter. Right now if he faught the likes of Katsidis he will be put on his ass.
Michael Gomez is the best thing that's happened to Khan so far.
Khan is lucky he didnt fight this Gomez...
That was such a great fight. Gomez was a beast that night and there was no stopping him. The fight also made me a fan of Alex Arthur, such heart, but if he had just used his boxing abilty he would have won that fight.
khan might be fighting on september 6 ,alex arthur under card making another defence of his commonwealth belt, i would like to see a rematch with willie limond
His next fight

i agree mate .. check my avatar .. Brodie's 1st fight against Injin Chi was awesome .. one of my fave ever and Gomez is high on that list too .... loads of heart and a never say die attitude.
They are close mates which may explain that
bloody hell whenever i've chatted about brodie in the past nobody seems to give him any love!! I thought brodie had a massive heart and also great skills
When he got robbed so badly against willie jorin i was absolutely gutted for him, and the injin chi fights were classics (not so much the second!)
Frank warrens plan didnt go the way he wanted it to they expected gomez to roll over and die but he put up the fight of his life.
NOPE..Actually Warren and anybody with a knowledge of the domestic scene in england knew Gomez wouldnt just roll over, I saw his fight with carl johnsen and he was taking headshot in that fight without going down he had to be stopped by the ref in that fight as well.
Yeah he did. He also took a lot of punishment and really showed his heart and what he is made of. I think this was the tiughest fight of his career, seconded by the Limond fight. Limond had him in trouble badly but Gomez attacked and caused trouble all night.
From this i think that Katsidis would batter Khan, he needs to be brought up slowly i think. Funnily, even though i hate the cunt, Warren is perfect for him!
That is so true, under Warren Khan will never loose.
I know! He made Khan dig deeper than many expected!

it was the 4th, and being fair to Khan he held it together well and came back with a great flurry of head shots about 45 seconds after .... BUT as someone mentioned earlier .. if this had been the Gomez that beat Arthur then Khan would have lost IMO.
yep thats what i was saying mate, I have a lot of time for gomez and he reminds me a lot of michael brodie. Unbelievable heart and effort
how long was left in the round mate? i forget now
maybe i was like you and just wanting to see more action, but i felt as though his head was still clear and gomez even remonstrates with the ref straight away when he steps in
Not sure....
Round 5 wasn't it.... i predicted a round 6 stoppage.
Gomez took 13 shots unanswered, fair play to him...but rewatching it I thought the ref could have left it a bit longer, afterall Gomez is a veteran.
I'm still on the fence with this, Gomez was taking too many shots. However, one part of me wanted the fight to go on because it was a great fight but the other half says that Khan had already won at that point, and Gomez was getting tired.

if this was the gomez who beat arthur he would of beat khan, simple as that. he had him badly hurt twice. I actually thought it was a premature stoppage as well
Kahn has serious chin problems, and his defence in no way compensates for it at this point in his career to justify a world title shot

Everyones mentioning the knockdown, you must all remember the rib shot Gomez gave Khan that clearly hurt him, so much he had to cover up below for the rest of the round. Can't remember what round it was.
