Just watched the Khan being stomped by Gomez for short spells.
Gomez is a natural Featherweight from 2 divisions below, son of Gypsy parents, born in a car and stabbed as a teenager... tough kid.
Tough but limited...yet he still battered khan for spells.
VIDEO here
Anyone thinks Khan is maybe a bit green for the big players at 135lb ?
There is talk of kid diamond next.. ?

For me the fight brought up a surprising question about Khan's power.....dont get me wrong, hes def above average in terms of pwoer but does Gomez just have a excellent chin or has Khan just been knocking out fighters with below average chins?? (like his)....
Gomez took some of Khan's best shots and at times walked through them (granted other times he was wobble)....Basically my question is do we now all still think Khan's power is as great as it once looked or could it be if he gets into the ring with someone with a good chin he may struggle...
Yep, I said it in another post. I think Khan just overwhelms with fists of fury to KO opponents, the jury is still out on his punching power.

I'm not convinced by Khan at all yet, I think his chin got exposed yet again and he looked pissed off about it. Unfortunately there's not much he can do about that but needs to improve his defense vastly before he's ready for the top top guys at LW.
Agreed, he concetrates more on offence than defence but all it takes is to get caught once like on Saturday night and it's gameover.
Gomez also landed a blinding rib-shot that made Khan Khan cover low for the rest of the round. If that was a world class fighter that did that they would have finished Khan off.
I reserve judgement on Khan until he has faced a couple of big punchers with a decent KO rate. The Gomez fight showed the best and worst of Khan. Now would be a great time to get a world class trainer.
Excellent quote.
Khan looks dried out! I heard he was only like 3 percent body fat during weigh ins...this guy is a huge 135 pounder he should be at 140.
cutting to much weight can mess with your stamina and ability to take a punch he needs to move up.
LOL I heard Gomez is an Irish Mexican how in the hell did his parents meet?
Not many mexicans in ireland.
His real name is Armstrong, but when he turned pro he had to pick another name as already a middleweight called Armstrong

Yes it does. Gomez isn't naturally as big as Khan nor as naturally as strong. If size doesnt matter who would you pick Pacquiao or Kilitschko if they fought at heavyweight?
Pacquiao by SD. Although if it was against Haye, Haye by KO ;)
u dont understand. Gomez is about a half a foot smaller than khan, so theres not much of a difference, and he can hit as well.... obviously pac would'nt beat klitschko, but a little size difference like khan and gomez.. people on here always say pac would beat the shit out of khan, and hes about an inch smaller than gomez and probably not as naturally strong either..
Size doesnt matter in a fight, so your telling me a bigger person who cant fight to save there life would beat a pro boxer just because hes bigger??
theres a big disadvantage off course, but you can win.. gomez was tricky enough to get to khan..
Heavyweights are an example as well, they range from 5ft to 7ft and still beat up the big guy..
there was a disadvantage there between khan and gomez.. BUt who do you think would win against khan vs pac??
probably pac, there you go your question answerd, size dont matter.(to a certain extend, lightweights and superfeatherweights)
WTF I never mentioned height!
I said Gomez is a natural featherweight, maybe superfeatherweight at most...Khan is a very very big lightweight. He is naturallt stronger, and Gomez was past it.....

yea but size dont matter at the end of the day., If you know how to fight you can knock out 10 foot giants.. look at bruce lee.. size means fuck all in a fight

He's also a natural featherweight.
But he is tough as nails!

that first knockdown was as classy as it gets, hes attacking skills are outstanding. Hes speed is lightning quick, hes powers wikid.. Gomez is a real fighter, for the first four rounds hes as dangerous as they come

Looking at that fight again, Khan doesn't look nearly as bad as some have suggested. It was a tough fight because Gomez seemed to go in there with the attitude that he had to KO Khan to win there. I think Khan looked good considering how well he was being pressured. The knock down wasn't all that bad. It was a flash knock down and Khan never seen it coming. I'm sure people questioned Clays Chin after he was put down by Cooper early in his career. It was almost a for sure thing Liston would knock him out, but look what happened. Its entirely too early to write off Khan or seriously doubt him, IMO.
Khan was also knocked down and was nearly out against Willie Limond. For the record, Limond only has a 25% KO Ratio..
