WANTED - MARKETING GENIUS
Make no mistake, boxing is in trouble. The young audience refuses to be won over. Can the sport learn anything from the phenomenal success of the World Wrestling Federation? STEVE FARHOOD examines an increasingly worrying set of circumstances
Professional wrestling's Rock-solid fan base is teenage males and young adult males. According to HBO's Seth Abraham, who in May launched the late-afternoon weekend boxing show KO Nation to attract a younger viewership, boxing's largest audience is males aged 50 and up. A pathetic three percent of American males aged 18-24 watch boxing or attend live matches.

This was from an older article . I'm assuming the stats are about the same when comparing MMA and boxing today. This means that the BOXING FANS are dieing off.
I'm trying to figure out what the boxing demographic is on this message board. Post your current age and how long you've been a boxing fan.
28 here. I had watched boxing casually off an on since I was a kid, but with ever growing interest in the last 3 years. To be honest it was being in Jermain Taylor's hometown that got my interest; he is a good guy who does a lot for this community in addition to being a great ambassador for the sport.
For the last year or so I have been getting even deeper into it though where I try to follow as many fights as possible instead of just a few popular fighters here and there.
I'm 27, First fight i remember seeing was Tyson and Bruno 2 on box office.
Was watching casually over the years and was a big fan of Naz, I started getting more and more into it and became a big fan of Calzaghe and Hatton domestically and also first started watching the likes of Barrera, DLH and Morales. Its only the last 4/5 years ive been watching religiously thou.
Age 40 here, my first big fight was Ali - Frazier I. Seen many big names and big fights with Howard Cosell calling them on ABC's Wide World Of Sports back in the 70's :boxing:

You probably are the oldes poster on here. How do you like boxingscene????
Wow you found another similar word me and him used......congratulations. Give yourself a cookie.
I use fish, cupcake, princess all for youngin posters. If he really made that post ( I don't know if you just edited it yourself) then I didn't see it. I doubt he uses the word "fish" in every sentence.
Stop being pathetic. But think what you wanna.....at least I write my own stuff Horus.
So far, the young boxing fans are dominating the polls.
Guess boxingscene members figure into the overall 3% of boxing fans that article was talking about.
:owned::owned::owned:
Same goes for you fish. Self-proclaiming victory by pulling out the OWNED emoticon isn't gonna get you nowhere cupcake.
Feel free to further educate yourself one of of the most overused words on boxingscene: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182682
Fuck you. What kind of a repsonse was that? You remind of a guy whose family who disrespects him and hates him so you take your anger out on everyone else. Your an old cunt that can't hack it when your told your past it as the youth are taking over. Your done.
P.s. :owned:
As I've already posted, I'm only 23 dipshit so your argument holds no weight.
Nice you had to pull out the owned sign and prove me wrong at just how dumb you are. Here is a definition for guys like you:
Owned - a poster who self-proclaims victory when there is none, using emoticons and internet slang in hopes of ending the discussion early. Kind of like a fighter bailing out in the first round walking to the dressing room with his hands raised high in victory
