Why didn't Tyson fight any of the elite name fighters in his era? Fighters that presented a real challenge such as Riddock Bowe, Ray Mercer, peak Holyfield peak Lewis or even Tommy Morrison? Was that careful match making on the part of Tyson's management?
Tyson diddnt struggle against Ribalta and Tillis. He wasnt taking any big punches at all. but he wasnt landing much though...
Bowe, Lewis ,Holyfield came in around the time he went to prison. Mike was Scheduale to fight Mercer in Januar 2002, but it got cancelled since tyson choosed to fight Lewis.
I think Tyosn without a doubt would have beaten all of them in hes prime. Lewis wasnt much of a fighter in the early 90s and Holyfield in those days diddnt have the weight.
Maybe Bowe, but Bowe is one of the most talented boxers of all time
Tillis boxed Tyson's sox off for many points in that fight, and there were instances where was actually dominating Tyson with his jab and footwork. Mike also struggled with Rabalita IMO. His corner had to keep him focus because there were times where he would go passive and be taken out of his game.

is there a single thread on here thats doesnt get changed into he never beat anyone his resume isnt that good he never did this he never did that hes a bum fact is maybe he didnt i dont no but every boxer even the shit ones deserve respect because they can all box better than any of us they risk there health and even sometimes there lives obviously for the money but to entertain ppl like us and all 99% of you do is rip them apart i mean which one of the ppl on here has been the youngest ever hw champ, or a 5 division world champ, or p4p king, or gone over 30 pro fights undefeated because if theres on ill eat my ****ing hat most are quick to diss but yet none could do better so in theory how can u badmouth when they have done a million times better than you
Yes but we are the fans, the ones who buys their fights and pay to come and see them so therefore, we have the right to judge. I respect any boxer that puts their life on the line and i have nothing against Tyson, hes one of the most exciting heavyweight of all time. With that being said, i simply don't believe he fought the best possible opposition at the time and there were names out there for him to fight.
I can't believe this kid bumps a thread that i made about a year ago and brings old points back up, i guess he just wanted to join in the argument. I bet even boxing prospect himself doesn't even think about this thread anymore. Well move on, its old news. Oh i also didn't say anything about Steward and Cooper being great names, another failure.
Its great that you think Foreman in his 40`s was better than a young Foreman also. I just think its complete bullshit :) He was fat, ancient, slow as shit. It took him an age to throw.
:lol1: at Cooper,Stewart when asked for great names
p.s John Ruiz is not hall of fame worthy
and on you go boxing historian
Im out. Im not sure if i should have brought this back to life. Boxing Prospect come back and get into it again :/
TECHNICALLY BETTER, read all of my posts in this thread if you are going to come in a thread and assume things you don't know about. Its obvious that a prime Foreman was better because of his youth and aggression, but as far as technical and patience wise, old George was clearly the better fighter because he had better stamina and his patience allowed him to take a punch better.
A bout with Morrison is a Joke. Sorry, but the bout would have been a nothing fight, Morrison would stand little chance imo.
Evander was set to be around '91-ish i think. But Tyson's silly lifestyle, money/management problems, Sacking coach problems, lack of preparation for bouts and Don King Problems resulted him in losing to Douglas and ending up in Jail.
Bowe was really active at around 91-94, the time when Tyson was in Jail.
Had his career progressed like any other normal boxer, that is, behaved normal and not been distracted and lured by the darker things in life, he would have probably eventually faced Witherspoon probably before/after Holyfield, then Bowe 93-ish.
In my opinion anyway.
But alot changed in Tyson's life in between '88-'90 and between '90-'92.
Probably alot more than other fighters' careers put together
I would have also choose Tyson to blow away Morrison but since the fight never happen, we can't be 100% sure. Morrison would be a live underdog against anyone because of his one punch left hook power and if he got past the early rounds against Tyson, things could have gotten interesting. Morrison knocked out Ruddock with on punch( it came from the one shot even though Ruddock got up but clearly he was through), something that Tyson couldn't do in neither of his fights with Ruddock.
Evander was there, Mercer was there, Morrison was, Witherspoon ect. Bowe is the only one that wasn't around at the time.

:rofl::rofl:
Foreman of the 90`s also had lightining fast hands
Its great that you think that, but i was referring to Foreman being a lot technically better than he was when he was in his prime. He didn't come in behind a jab when he was younger, his stamina was questionable, he threw wider looping punches and he wasn't patient. He was all power.
Why would a young tyson fight ALL those guys???
And I dont recall ANY of those guys saying"bring me tyson"
If you claim to be the best, then you have to prove it against the best opposition. I am not critizing him on not fighting ALL of them, but he could have beaten one elite fighter that was in their prime. The best fighter that he fought who was in their prime was Bruno, and that speaks for itself considering Bruno was was never elite and has been stopped previously. While Ruddock, Biggs, Frazier, and Golota were once good fighters, they were never champions and not in the higher echlon.
Also, Evander and Lewis both wanted to fight Tyson. Funny how they did their part in the deals and he never did his.
Dude the guys you mentioned werent around for Tyson to fight.

Could you kindly direct me to the page where all the Tye Fields worship started. I started reading from page 1 but all the Tyson hyping kinda turned me off.
