While I dont like Mundine, I, being from Australia get the feeling alot of you dont have a clue who Mundine is. Your doing the typical forum thing: Just agree with the majority of the people and state what everyone else has already said without really knowing what your talking about. I srsly doubt Mundine is known outside Australia so stop pretending like he is.
One post in this thread harped on like he knew all about Mundine but then thought he was from Europe, typical.
I am from Australia. Whilst I agree that many in this forum seem a little harsh towards him (I saw a poll where the majority had Lockett beating him - I doubt this would happen), do you not think he is being ridiculous at the moment? I bought several of his fights back in the day - Green, Echols, Kessler - however I am insulted by the joke proclaiming to be a world class fighter and then expecting me to shell out $50 of my hard-earned to watch him beat Soliman for the 34th time or fight a 37 year old Taylor.
Did you see the Taylor fight on Friday night? It was a disgrace to Australian boxing. He then proceeded to call out Mundine after the fight! If Mundine takes that fight I am done with him, that will be it.

I have him at #5 at 160. He doesn't have the worst resume ever, especially compared to some of these other Euros. He's beat Soliman 3x, although the 3rd time was excessive, he needed to rematch him since the first fight was so close, Echols, and Danny Green. Although getting KOed by Ottke is something that can't be lived down, his losses (Kessler UD and Siaca SD) aren't bad.
Australia, of course being at the heart of Europe.
I used to be a fan of Anthony's but since the Danny Green fight I have lost a lot of respect for him. He just doesn't seem interested in getting in there and mixing it against quality opponents.
It is definately a shame, he clearly has a fair bit of talent but he chooses to waste it taking fights against the likes of Soliman. If he does actually fight Taylor as has been rumoured it will be one of the biggest digraces in Australian boxing history (perhaps behind the farcical Fenech-Nelson rematch) and I will have lost any remaining respect for the man.
LOL i was waiting for someone to say that and your right.
But win or loose. Both have a same resume. Which is shitty for this many fights.
The same resume cept Mundine is 6 years older and has accomplished less.
And TBH Pavliks resume is clearly better.
Zertuche, Zuiniga, McKart, Miranda, Taylor x 2 makes up 6 straight world class fights in which Kelly is undefeated.
Pavlik has fought the same amount of world class fighters as he has. From pretty much the same number of fights.
Yeah but pavliks won all of them & fought for legit belts
Anthony Mundine is a wanka. He raves on about how he is the best SMW-Now MW in the world but he fights bums who cannot fight watsoever, yet when sum1 that can acctualy fight offers him a deal he declines. He is a Joke
True, he did fight Kessler, one of the only real opponents he ever had, not counting Sven Ottke, a loser who still knocked Mundine out. Then he won a SMW belt and Kessler became his mandatory for a rematch, and whatta ya know, Anthony Mundine wants to be a middleweight! Gimme a break.
I'm sure he knows he isn't going to beat Kessler which is why he doesn't want to fight him again. I'm not saying he's a great fighter or anything like that but I don't see him as a complete joke either. He's a more legit fighter then say Gary Lockett but he won't ever be more than an average fighter.
I don't think it's fair to call him a complete joke. The guy might not be fighting great competition but correct me if I'm wrong, didn't he lose most of the sight in one of his eyes? He can't just step in the ring with top notch fighters without a few fights first. Before the eye problem he did fight Kessler, sure he lost but he still fought him.

No i don't take him seriously, the third fight with Solimon did it for me.
By the way, i accidentally voted Yes.
Well it balances out because I meant to vote yes but I accidently voted no. I thought the poll question was "Is Mundine a joke".
