MMA as a whole is doing great, boxing cards are featuring MMA fighters, websites are featuring MMA news, Showtime is promoting MMA. Only the ignorant boxing fans are the one's crying about it here in the boxing forums. I don't see the big deal, Mixed Martial Arts is here to stay.

I like the greek olympics argument. LOL Get real. The fact of the matter is MMA hasn't existed as a recognized until just recently-early 90's. It will never have the great history boxing does. ouch! that hurts. i've used that greek argument too. even the japanese samurai argument. ha ha ha it's true what you say about mma but only for the u.s. brazil had vale tudo fights for a long time now. the gracies started it there and i think helio and carlos gracie (the 2 founders of bjj) are in their 80's now. people dont know this but there was ufc before ufc in japan called pancrase which is still around. when ken shamrock fought in the 1st ufc he was already a pancrase champion and had been there for a while. it's true about mma being only 15 years old in the u.s. though.

How about you get a fucking clue. Boxing is much older than that. And MMA is as old, if not older than boxing, if you would try to learn a little history instead of acting like a giant d-bag on these boards you would learn that first traces of pankration, a sport very similar to today's mma was already praticed in greek olympics at around 600 B.C. I find these topics dumb as hell, i like both boxing and MMA and i have no problem seeing them coexist. If you don't like MMA don't watch it and shut the fuck up. I like the greek olympics argument. And, it's not about insecurity, it's all the bullshit MMA fans talk on how their sport is better than boxing or whatever when that is clearly not the case. i don't see that too much. if anything all i see is mma are not skilled posts. agree about kimbo though but i guess he can be mma's version of butterbean.

well i'll be ... maybe mma will become a superstar sport but mma should never forget their daddy where it all started from baby, which is boxing !!!! without boxing there would be no mma ... incorrect statement. most mma fans now are not even boxing fans. i hope we get some new american superstars soon so our kids and grandkids get into following boxing. does anybody seen figures on the age of boxing fans compared to mma fans? watching and reading about mma they get a lot of 18-34 male demographic for tv. does anyone know which demographic boxing gets? mma has been around a long time just not in the us. we think that 'cause we're americans and all we know is the 1st ufc in '93. brazil has been doing professional mma for a long time. japan too.

This MMA vs boxing is getting out of hand. What I dont like though is all the MMA trolls in a nonstop boxing forum. you'll find those mma trolls are boxing trolls too...... most of them just want attention. whether it's mma topic or floyd spamming.

boxing was down but got back up and knocked out mma !!!! boxing has been around for 200 years, can mma go the distance ? no way ... they can last pretty long...... the ufc pay all their fighters $300-400K (all of them on the card not each) and gets $2-3 million just from the gate. they are making such a big profit they can go for a while. ufc fighters know what being in the nba in the 60's was like......

Tonight was a badass boxing night. MMA could never give me the kind of excitement and rushes that boxing gives me.

So your going to compare all all the boxing matches to a MMA card where most the guys on the card got injured so most the competitive fights turned into squash matches, the HW division just got screwed by an inconsistant official and the headline welterweight bout was supposed to be a ranking match, but one of the fighters went dumbass and didn't make weight, so it became an exhibition match. In short, you're going to compare boxing to an MMA card that wasn't worth anything in the first place? You're funny.
