Because Chris John doesn't have 21 title defences, because Chris John has only beaten one "name", because Chris John is not undefeated for 18 years... There is a lot of reasons. unbeaten is overrated. brian nielsen was 49-0 once. and joe had 21 title defences but the majority was the wbo. wbo might be considered somewhat of a major belt now but 10 years ago when joe won his belt the wbo was a joke. the wbc , wba and ibf wouldn't let their fighters fight wbo champs because of politics. that's why joe's defenses were not against top caliber opposition. obviously not a fault of joe's but more of his manager who protected him too much. joe won his first belt when he won the vacant wbo title in '97. manny won his first belt a year later and it was the wbc flyweight title which he loss at the weigh in when he couldn't make weight. manny has been fighting top caliber opposition just as long as joe and they were much better opposition.

pacman can box good enough to knock down marquez 4 times! and he's not a boxer he's a slugger so who cares if he's outboxed if he lands the heavier punches? a 41 yr. old hopkins dropped joe. i thought joe was a GREAT boxer? joe won the hopkins fight by swarming like manny does. did he outbox a 41 yr. old? no he outworked him and outpunched him like manny did. only difference is when manny swarms he landed more cleanly and with more power. The way I see it is... You can't out box a fighter who isn't willing to box himself. Hopkins staying on the ropes and bouncing off them with a head butt and maybe a 1-2 and then clinching is not boxing, not in my opinion anyway.
