Jim Lampley...

Who is better overall? Lampley or Larry? Larry IMO, I look forward to what he has to say, Lampley offers good insight from time to time but I think his main role is to hype the fight as much as possible...

In my opinion, he's the best right now I agree. He is definitely the best at what he does at this point.

Jim's got skills man, Him and Larry will be missed when they depart HBO. I hope Lampley sticks around longer he is trully the voice of boxing

Yeah I like Lampley. I like how he gets excited during fights and it just feels like a big fight when him and Larry are doing the commentary.

Lately he has become too much of a critic and also is too slow, but he still says some great stuff though The guy has been commentating in the sport of boxing for the longest time.. he also has been writing about it. Here is a guy who has seen the sport in its golden days and sees it now.. I would be a critic too if I was him.

I think he is a great commentator, i love his enthusiasm. I wish we had a guy like him in the UK :(

People hate Larry Merchant but I don't know what we will do without him! I like the old guy and some of his metaphors are corny but I like them. He's like the old granpa who says whatever he wants and gets away with it. Lately he has become too much of a critic and also is too slow, but he still says some great stuff though

i agree. i mean he is the voice of boxing to me and does the blow by blow as good as i've heard it done. Its like listening to a ring annoucner currently who isnt michael buffer... when i think of current fights hearing jim lampley/larry merchant and michael buffer doing the ring announcing is the best it can get for me overall. Steve Albert is actually starting to grow on me a little. he did a great job with the Vazquez/Marquez trilogy. "NON STOP, SUSTAINED ACTION!!"

As far as the play-by-play, there is no better. He is fantastic at it. As far as commenting on other things he loses a bit, but nobody is perfect at the job. Because of that I'd vote at the highest vote possible. He is the best in the business.
