good question. Floyd was only able to do it by fighting popular fighters like Dela Hoya and HATTON. So im guessing thats how Cotto would have to do it. It just takes time. Floyd was much farther along in the game before he started bringing the $$$. The mainstream catches on slowly. Hopkins became a star with a dozen title defenses behind him. Floyd was "p4p #1" for a few years before he hit it big. Lennox was on the downswing. Etc. Only Puerto Ricans and few hardcore boxing fans watch Cotto.. And how Cotto should sell himself shouldn't ever enter his mind. Winning fights should be the only thing on his mind. If fighters like Mayweather won't fight him cause he can't produce numbers, so be it. Cotto will go down in history as the guy who fought anyone, Mayweather will go down as excatly what he is. Cotto doesn't just need to clean it out, he needs to win by devastating KOs or engage in epic wars like the Vasquez/Marquez trilogy. Cotto needed to destroy MOsley, but instead he ran in the championship rounds. Cotto needs to absolutely destroy Margarito.
