Alright check it out guys, honestly im quite tired of this whole debate between the two sports but it just seems like, no matter what i do i cant dodge the crossfire so I have to get back in the fight. So if a boxer and a mma fighter actually fought what do u guys think the outcome would be?
honestly i think all the boxer would have to do is avoid the mma fighter for about 10-15 minutes cuz thats about as long as they can go then it'll be all downhill for the mma fighter from there. anytime he tries to come in and tackle him he would just have to uppercut his ass lol.
I just thought of a new way of comparing the two:
because everybody says ufc fighters will win simply because they have more "moves" and know different fighting styles.
Their are 2 artists. 1 artist is a boxer, and 1 artist is a ufc fighter. Artist number 1 comes equipped with just 1 finely sharpened pencil. Artist number 2 comes equipped with a huge briefcase filled with different types of paintbrushes and different art equipment. So they battle it out for hours working on individual portraits. But in the end the more skilled and harder working artist number 1 wins.
Moral- The artist with just a pencil has the capabilities of creating a fine work of art that is equal to or greater than the artists with the briefcase filled with different equipment.
In boxing, their is no TAPOUT. If your tired you cant simply slap the canvas and the fights over. In boxing, you dont get to lay on the ground, believe me it takes alot more energy to stand then to lay. I know this because I am human. In boxing, if you fall down, you have 10 seconds to stand your ass back up and fight! In boxing their is no clenching, grappling or holding, only fighting, you dont get the luxury of being able to hold on for dear life when you get tired. If you do get tired, the only thing you can do is keep fighting! And that ladies and gentlemen is what fighting is!
I should run for president
yea, i like me
Why do we have MMA section. When MMA sites don't have boxing section. Why would you let your competition into your house?
well to be fair mma does incorporate boxing into it. i guarantee every mma fighter trains in boxing. they just don't do it as technically proficient and eye pleasing as boxers do.
remember the majority of mma fighters are wrestlers or jiu-jitsu guys. boxers (good ones anyway) don't get into mma because money talks and there's more money to be made in boxing.
come on how many crap boxers out there? and those guys trained in it their whole life! these guys are just trying to learn boxing they spent most of their lives training jiu-jitsu for the mundials or wrestling in the ncaa.
Absolutely, but I have never heard an mma fan who wasn't trolling claim otherwise.
it just depends on people's point of view.
if you're into judo , jiu-jitsu , wrestling , etc. you'll think there's a lot of skill involved in mma.
if you're not then you think it's silly for them to be grabbing and laying on the ground.
we in america think soccer is boring but the world thinks otherwise.
it just depends on people's taste. my dad didn't grow up in the u.s. and he thinks soccer is great. when he sees me watch football on tv he just doesn't get it. he's like , "stupid sport" , "they're just pushing each other back and forth"
finally somebody i can agree with. ufc fighters are dumb, they have no defensive technique or stamina whatsoever, hence the reason for so many knockouts
MMA guys have stamina for days man jst like most boxers! Look at the fights not so long ago when the first round was 10 or 15 min round, then it would go to 10 min rounds, think this was pride, it could be 10 min then down to 5's or somethin a didnt take interest in PrideFC.
But even tho a love boxing more than mma and always will, its gettin big and its a great fight, and even pro boxers are gettin this, guys switchin over to see what can happen when boxers fight MMA guys, even tho its not the best guys crossing over i.e Botha, Butterbean and Mercer. Only Mercer was a really good fighter and he was to old to cross over and shouldnt have been anywhere near a cage, but still MMA has NOTHING TO DO WITH BOXING, cos boxing is bitin the hand that feeds it by makin shit fights and by givin fights to the wrong guys in close fights
This is simple if you like to watch to grown men roll around an spoon each other you watch MMA but if you want to see a sport where at least some of the guys have talent you watch boxing or kickboxing or some other physical contact sport besides MMA.
and mma guys have no skills talent right? maybe in america. americans don't appreciate the groundgame so of course the talented , physically gifted guys are into boxing or even other sports like basketball or baseball.
different cultures in japan , brazil and france. in japan judo and wrestling is big. olympic judokas from france and japan literally don't even have to work because all of the money they make from sponsors. in america everyone wants to be jordan or joe montana or even mike tyson so the most talented guys pursue those sports. in other countries kids aspire to be judo guys or wrestlers so they get some talented guys.

Not all sports are as insecure as boxing... the biggest MMA website has forums for all combat sports.
As an aside, anyone who thinks boxers have even close to a 50/50 chance in an mma bout vs a similar level of mma fighter is a retard nd is not worth responding to.
and vice-versa for a mma who gets into boxing.
it's 2 different sports. there is no better or more skilled. is a football players more skilled than a basketball player? can't tell. it's 2 different sports.
boxing has the heritage and the history over mma but mma is the "new" , "hot" thing right now.
there's a place for both. as far as fans go. the only problem will be for boxing promoters. how much money has elitexc taken from the shobox budget? if any. if hbo starts putting together mma cards how would that affect wcb or bad? as a fan we can appreciate both , one or neither but the ones who are scared on boxing's side is the promoters. i wouldn't be surprised if king and arum jumps on this thing. you do realize it's a lot cheaper to pay MMAers than boxers and you'll have EXCLUSIVE control (as far as the ufc anyway).

As a boxing fan, this weekend was the frist time I felt MMA was a legit threat to boxing. Everyone was still talking about BJ Penn learning to jab, two well rated shows on network TV. What really got to me was the mainstream media. I havent seen boxing get anything close to that amount of coverage in a long time. Everybody is still talking about it and its here to stay now. I see more and more "boxing" fans watching and talking about it. MMA has moved into boxing, take boxing site for example. Even on here "boxingscene" reports MMA news, MMA sites report nothing on boxing.
Boxing has always been a backpage sport, now we have to share the back page with MMA. Everything is now grouped as MMA/boxing, I dont see it slowing down anytime soon either. Dont get me wrong I like MMA but this is the first time I have been worried about boxing because of it.
Boxings last strong holds were HBO and ESPN. UFC almost made a HBO deal, think how that would be. The best boxing network EVER, the best of the best only fight on HBO. Then to have UFC on there? Thats scary. ESPN was one of the last to jump on board, they never covered it before, now its on sportscenter. Now I hear they just bought the MMA internet base in Sherdog. If ESPN jump ins with a FNF of MMA and/or cuts boxing, its over.

Then quit starting new threads about it. Choose one of the other retarded 100 threads in the archive and spam it instead.
Damn it, I'm not even trying to defend MMA.
I'd just like the people who hate it so much and love boxing dearly.......to discuss boxing and quit talking about how much they hate MMA.
It's an obvious insecurity.......they can't stand it.

boxing is killing MMA.........
Huh? lol
The arguments stem from the per capita revenue of Mixed Martial Arts.
Especially in comparison to the overall target market. Boxing has more fans...........lol it's been a formal sport ninety times as long and is by far the more distinguished of the two.
The historians speculate however that at it's growing rate MMA rivals boxing. Simply because if you predict the future based on numbers, Boxing would in fact be the minority combat sport of the two.

Harder. HARDER!!!
MMA is just swool bar fighters.
With Bling. Bar fighters with bling.
They moonlight as combat sports award models. AKA fags.
no skills? maybe no boxing skills. but to say no skills is incorrect.
i dont see much of any defensive skills either, hence the reason for so many knockouts. and that's why its so popular, because their IS so many knockouts
