Then we can expect to see cotto-floyd or floyd-margarito
Floyd will have no excuse and will have to fight one of them
his own words will come to haunt him, with his talk about
marketability and if it doesnt make dollars it doesnt make sense crap.
HE WILL HAVE TO FIGHT ONE OF THEM IF IT DOES 500,000 plus
and if he doesnt .......... Fucking skank
If I was Floyd's promoter he would fight.............
De La Hoya first. Sugar Shane second. Most likely Cotto third. I just don't see Cotto blowing out Margarito. If Margarito wins Floyd won't fight him with his record. Margarito would want a rematch with Williams if he loses. Cotto wins and probably fights Clottey because Joshua will beat Judah and he would want a fight before fighting Floyd. By that time Floyd vs. Cotto will do an easy 800k pay per view buys.
No doubt it does over 300k maybe even 400-500k.
Boxing ppv's this year have been
Jones vs Trinidad - 500k buys
Pac vs Marquez 2 - 400k+
Pavlik vs Taylor - 250k+
All of those cards had entertaining fights, people will come back to the product if it's good.
One of the reason's Cotto vs Judah did so bad, it came 1 month after the borefest that was Oscar vs Mayweather. People were down on boxing for that uneventfull fight and dog shit of a under card. Fast forward to October and November when Boxing was having great fights like Taylor vs Pavlik and Calzaghe vs Kessler.
The PPv's for for that period were
Barrera vs Pac - 350k
Cotto vs Mosley - 340k
Mayweather vs Hatton 850k
Boxing has had nothing but very good to great fights besides Popkins vs Slappy, I see this fight being very big among the Mexicans and Ricans.
Except Pacquiao is a nation hero, Marquez had the weight of his nation. Very good first fight and controversial ending.
It'll do more then 300k, but I don't think it will do more then what Pacquiao and Marquez did.
my fingers are crossed
no way in hell it does less than 300,000
margarito isnt marketable but he's mexican
cotto is somewhat marketable AND he's puerto rican
and guess what these motherfu*kers can fight
Cotto-Judah did disappointing numbers.
Cotto-Mosley was initially reported at 400k, but that was by Bob Arum. Which means there's a 99.99999999% percent chance that it is a lie. Other reports had it at around the 340-360 range.
Mosley is a bigger name than Margarito and has had some successul PPVs with other big names (Vargas, DLH).
July is usually not a big PPV month. The only big/semi-big PPV that I can think of that took place in July was Mosley-Vargas 2, which did in the low 300s I think. Maybe mid 300s.
On the plus side, there wasn't been any big PPVs on HBO in awhile. Cotto-Judah was a month after Mayweather-DLH and Cotto-Mosley was sandwiched between Pacquiao-Barrera 2 and Mayweather-Hatton.
So maybe that helps.
It'll be lucky to do 300k.
And if Cotto wins, and Floyd wins, we'll probably get the fight in 2009.
my fingers are crossed
no way in hell it does less than 300,000
