First time I've ever seen a front page piece about boxing at the New York Times. Perhaps a good sign?
Sweet pea, I always liked you as a poster.. Your a funny doode, but don't get into this Italian guido shit man..
I'm Italian, and happen to be a fan of Paulie because he is a good boxer...
I agree somewhat with Mattup that Mayweather isn't the entertainer he really thinks he is IE De La Hoya, Baldomir ect..
His trash talk is usually better than his fights. Floyd isn't really what the public wants. You want an effective entertainer in their prime? See Roy Jones. Flashy, but he was DOMINANT..
Floyd does as little as possible to EEEkK out wins. He doesn't demolish his competition..
I don't know what you have against Italians tho.
I hate you pasta eating bastards...:lol1:
And that's all you got to know....:lol1:
All I'm trying to say is; Floyd seems to be a little resentful towards the sport that made him millions. For a 31 year old P4P champion, he sure doesn't act like one. Retirement annoucements after every fight, not fighting top tier talent (as of late), and pulling bullshit publicity stunts.
Believe me I'm a fan of his in the ring like most people here and to an extent I enjoy the way he hypes up fights. BUT he is no rapper, he is no businessman, he is no entertainer and he is no wrestler. He's a very talented boxer who thinks he is bigger than the sport that made him.
1. Wasn't the criticism of Roy that he wasn't throwing too many punches as he moved up to light-heavy? Not that I agree, I think he was very entertaining.
2. Didn't he demolish Arturo Gatti like nobody did before? The Hatton Ko?
That is why I didn't mention those fights b/c he actually performed well in them.. Well, the Hatton win wasn't as easy as people made it seem. He was stuggling in the beginning b/c hatton was mauling him everywhere..
He did dominate Gatti.. but that wasn't the point i was proving..
Roy still had good KO power at LT heavy.. He was entertaining and threw more than Mayweather does at Welter..

The only difference between JOnes and Mayweather is that Floyd is a professional every time he steps in that ring where as Roy likes to clown around. It didn't look so good when he started clowning against Tarver in the third fight even though he was losing.
I don't go to your job, and kick PAULIE's balls out of your mouth.
Ya feel me, SON?
And Mayweather has never been no parts of a *** bat like your guido fucking hero.

Maybe I would take you seriously. Naw, I take that back.

Lots of people read the New York Times.. it should at least get him some more recognition..
Wether he is a household name or not? We are gonna have to wait and see when he fights someone who isn't as well known, then we will know depending on the numbers he does..
So you want Floyd to fight a nobody and for it to be on PPV????
Isn't that what fans would complain about?
Baldomir was as "nobody" as it gets. A guy nobody even heard about at the begining of 2006 and a guy who does 350,000 buys fighting Mayweather at the end of 2006.
Now if Floyd were to fight a unknown nobody, it's safe to say it would be a free HBO championship fight.

I see your having some problems with writing complete sentences and spelling. Maybe you have problems reading also or you probably would have read that NY Times article that says PBF freaked out when Cotto's name was mentioned. You would have also had to note that fat fuck Elerbe defending everything he does.
Your guido rant didn't bother me that much since I'm only part Italian but it definately shows your ignorance. Your a typical ignorant Floyd boy who defends yourself with posts like that one when all else fails.
Say what you want about Paulie but I bet he didn't have hissy fits when Cotto's name was mentioned. He man'd up and fought him, even though he lost it was a courageous fight and noone can take that away from him. That's more than can be said for that attention whore Mayweather.
Inside the ring he is brilliant (P4P the best) but outside the ring I think he's got an overblown ego and a lack of brains.
get his cock out of ur mouth.
1st off what I said is true, he's not this HUGE entertainer that everyone wants to bill him out to be. The people who want boxing back in the mainstream pump that.
2nd, I don't deny that he is P4P the best in the sport today. And I don't stick in Cotto/Margarito threads.
Lastly Gatti was a great warrior but stuck around too long and Judah is a stuttering prick that fights dirty.
I've seen all of Floyd's fights and I enjoy watching his fights. I don't stroke his cock like u and a lot of others though.
BTW at least Paulie was man enough to fight Cotto...

Anybody with Paulie in there avatar, sorry, can't take them seriously. Fucking clown...
And keep on posting that shit. It just fuels the greatness. I'm telling you, the shit was written by somebody that lost their wallet betting on Gatti. Or Judah.
It's funny. Mayweather makes the fucking New York times. The dude writes some shit that is automatic MATH in some of your eye's.:lol1:
The people that are MAD, are the folks that are in the Cotto vs Margarito threads, 24/7.
Who needs Ring, when you got the New York Times?:lol1:

I loved the article...
6 pages about Mayweather and quite a few of the paragraphs commenting on cementing his legacy, a proposed fight w/ Cotto, and things of that nature... and not one mention of Margarito.

Long read but it was worth it, thanks for the post.
I don't understand why people think he is so successful outside the boxing ring because he appears on lame WWE, appears on a reality show and hangs out with 50 cent.
His record label sucks (anyone remember that fight he had early/midway in his career when one of his rappers accompanied him to the ring rapping?). Aside from talking shit his only true skill is Boxing
Bob Arum stated that Mayweather was the best fighter he has seen in 40 years... best since Ali. Is that true also?
Think for yourself, playboy.
Floyd catches a hissy fit during the interview with the NY times writer when Cotto's name is mentioned. Given that, it gives credibility to what Bob said regarding Floyd catching hissy fits when he use to mention Margarito's name to him.
"Why fight Oscar again when Mayweather could prove he’s the best by fighting the best?"
Mayweather snorted in disgust and looked to Ellerbe, who stepped in close to me and said: “A fight has to make sense.
Our discussion of Cotto, who has already beaten Mosley, irritated Mayweather. Having abandoned his pose of smug feline ease, he remained sitting on the bed, reaching up to thump my chest with the back of his hand for emphasis as he refuted point by point the argument that he’s an overrated media darling who avoids guys who can beat him.
Bob Arum stated that everytime he brought up Margaritos name, Floyd would catch a hissy fit and start breaking things. It must've been true! LOL. :bottle:
Well i think this is a great article anyway, Cotto gets a mention which would help because people would start searching and wanting to know more about the guy Mayweather isnt eager to get in a ring with while oscar is around.
Like Cotto doesn't have enough to worry about?
Mayweather owns this fucking forum. Any doubts about this have just been erased.
Never said Cotto didn't have enough to worry about. Margarito is a hella tuff defense. As witnessed by Mayweather never putting on the gloves to face him. Mayweather fought some really top fighters in the lower weight classes but he hasn't fought any real opposition in the last 3 years. Its time for him to step it up and fight while his name is still on the tip of peoples tongues. If Mayweather fought Gomez he would have made millions, yes we would have bitched about it but at least he would be active. We all see how well taking long lay off's worked for fighters in the past.
Its a long read 6 pages worth. Basically its saying the same thing we all have been saying. When is Mayweather going to take on Cotto.... When is he going to clean out the division and put some names on his record in the welter weight division. Then it goes on to say, who are we the fans to ask so much from a fighter that has given us so much. I thought it was a decent article and I side with most of what the writer said. As a Cotto fan I'd love to see them step into the ring against each other but if Mayweather doesn't want to do it then who am I to flame him if he decides to move on. But if Mayweather continues to fight and avoids Cotto then I'll have a hard time putting him on the all time great P4P list.
