Your thoughts?
I had Oscar winning 7-5. Oscar won the 1st 6 rds , 4-2. They split the next 6, 3 a piece.
I was reading the Ring mag from that fight, and i still cannot understand how they scored it for Mosley , 117-113.
That translates to 7 for Mosley, only 3 for Oscar and 2 even.
The Ring is supposed to be the authority, but they were wayyyyyyyyy off on this one.
He did win it, he lost to Sturm though and those idiots who say that he lost to Quartey don't know shit.
Please. There was nothing clear at all about the win over Quartey.
Even with the great finish for DLH, you still have to be generous to DLH for him to win that fight. Say you're nice and give him 3 of the first 5 rounds (it can easily by 3-2 Ike or 2-2-1). Ike wins round 6 when both guys go down, as he controlled the round after the KDs. DLH did fuck all offensively from rounds 7 through 9, despite Foreman claiming "not much is a lot for Oscar De La Hoya". Quartey did little, landing some jabs here and there and an occassional right hand, but DLH did even less. DLH won none of the rounds from 6 thru 9. DLH needs to win the next 3 rounds to win the fight, and giving him the 11th round is very iffy.
What is with fighters, that they have to juice up before fighting Oscar. Vargas got busted and Mosley said he took shit, i wonder if any other guy juiced?
Yeah I thought it was pretty clear Oscar beat Whitaker. A draw I can see though.
Two things about that fight though:
-Scorecards were ridicoulous (horrible spelling)
-The point reduction for the accidental headbutt was even worse.
you have an agenda against oscar...i respect you, but regarding oscar, dont try ot come around as unbiased....
I'd be lying if I denied that I can't stand Oscar. That's the one guy you can call me out on. However I did have him winning the Whitaker fight for whatever that is worth. :D
20 effective pittypat punches > 1 good inefective punch...
by this i mean some guys give themeselves distance and get points by throwing and landing a lot of punches(ans oscar's a good enough natural puncher that his pitty pat isnt exactly worthless)........so what if they get hit with 1 or 2 good hard shots(which is the best mosley landed for at least 7-8 rounds) if they arent even slowing them down or hurting them???....
Plain and basic common sense. If the numbers are close, I can see going with the power puncher, but otherwise it can be more or less a numbers game when judging a fight.

Absolutely - Moseley did nothing in the first half of the fight - although Moseley did land some hard effective shots, Oscar was still active and fighting back...
poor judging.
I thought Mosley won. He landed the meaningful punches and dominated the late rounds. Just like in the Trinidad fight, Lampley had a lot of people fooled into thinking DLH was winning all the early rounds with his pitty pat punches.

I awarded the rds where Mosley actually did something, he was so inactive. the rds where he landed harder sjots, he obviously won. However, i thought Oscar outboxed him and Shane knew it at the end of the fight with that expression of shock.

oscar...clearly as the day...and i love them both(i had mosley as my sig just 4 days ago...)but oscar won that fight...
oscar is the most hated individual in the boxing circles...
117-111 = 9 for Mosley and 3 for Oscar.
I had it 115-113 for Mosley, but the fact that Mosley looked so disencouraged and the fight was really close any how I have no problem with people saying Oscar won.
