Anywhere from 2 to 4 p4p is a fair placement. Manny is going to fight on longer than Joe, so he will be the one pressing a claim if Floyd remains inactive
wheres xplosivo crying that calzaghe is a joke.. when everyone is saying hes at the top
He's off posting polls like 'Is King Kong's Victory over Godzilla better than Calzaghe's win over Maio Veit' . I suppose it keeps him awake and lowers his chances of wetting the bed again tonight.
Mayweather VS. Calzaghe is the comparison, esentially. Let's compare.
p4p guys that they beat. (Which means, anyone they beat that was EVER on a TRUE p4p list.)
Mayweather:
De La Hoya
Hatton
Corrales
Castillo
Judah
Calzaghe:
(maybe) Kessler
Hopkins.
They're both undefeated, but Mayweather has fought more p4p guys, so there's that. You can claim all you want about De La Hoya being over the hill, but then what would you say about Hopkins. Kessler, would be matched by Hatton. If you wanna mention Eubanks, pick either Castillo or Corrales.
One reigned for 10 years in one division, and is a TRUE TWO division champion. HOWEVER, if Mayweather felt the need to fight Hatton at 140, it'd be the same situation, he just didn't. Mayweather, however, won title of SOME form in 6 differen't divisions.
I like Calzaghe and Mayweather.. but..
Mayweather > Calzaghe.
End of story.
It's Floyd......................................................................................Calzaghe......Pacman..........................................and then everyone else.
No he isn't. The only way you could make this argument is by ruling out Floyd based on his inactivity and lack of fights at welter and then there is a borderline case for saying that Calzaghe, in cleaning out Lacy and Kessler from SMW and the defeating Hopkins at LHW, has has won the most significant fights, captured titles and done so against Lacy and Kessler with two of the best performances in recent boxing history.
Even if we make this kind of argument though, we have to discount everything Mayweather has done previously in his career and I'm sure Manny Pacquiao would feel he has similar claims too, and I would tend to agree.
I think when Calzaghe beat Hopkins the p4p top 3 stayed the same:
Mayweather
Pacqiao
Calzaghe
