Body punches are decisive in long fights ,ive seen a lot of evidence of this recently
1 i saw R Marquez fade big time down the stretch in his fight with Israel Vasquez the body shots Vasquez had been throwing all night took there toll and seem to knock the fight outta him IMO in the last 3/4 rounds there was less and less coming back from him and he looked shattered in contrast to Vasquez
2 Hatton v Lazcano same scenario really allthough Lazcano was rarely in the fight ,he just seem to fall apart in the last 3/4 rounds there was less coming back form him & he was looking to hold at every opurtunity he was tucking his elbows in all night ,Hatton threw some viscious Body punches in that fight and allthough he was always gonna win the body attacks deffo made it easier for him ,i know Lazcano had a decent rally in the 10th but his attacks were very sporadic in the seocnd half of the fight
3 Mitchell v Johannsen this was a great little tear up but Mitchell laid the ground work with the body attacks and Johannsen looked like an old man coming out for the 9 /10 round he looked completely done it was as though someone has flicked a switch and he had suddenly become tired ,Mitchell proceeded to take him out
Body punches are like ganja it creeps up on u
Julio Cesar Chavez beat the life out of Meldrick Taylor's body in their first fight.
Mayweather landed good body shots on Ricky Hatton and slowed him down
yeah that is a good point if ever there was an illustration of a fighter taking a beating downstairs it was Taylor the guy looked bust up and tired in the latter stages of that fight

The weird thing is, I'm not sure I saw Meldrick wearing down (or at least his workrate) from the body shots. He ended up succumbing to the punishment in the end, but I think it was mostly the head damage he has accumulated.
I could be wrong.

I like cotto's body punching more, and his jabs. :boxing:
If one of cottos body punches landed flush on Hatton he would piss blood for months.
Cotto bust Quintana body up good
Povetkin's body punches really effected Eddie Chambers in their fight, Chambers started off well, but the accumulation of body punches head shots from Povetkin totally wore down and hurt Chambers to the point where he wasn't throwing anything and he was just trying to survive the 12 rounds.
Taylor was pretty much done after a body shot from Pavlik in the rematch in either the 10th or 11th. He grabbed immediately, and just looked exhausted for every second after that.
yep there are so many instances that get overlooked Hatton v Urango aswell
