Look at this round. I can't think of another fighter who today who could absorb this much punishment and keep going. He may not have been the fastest, most powerful but look at his heart, his chin and his determination. In that aspect he is P4P number 1. Mayweather despite being a great fighter who wouldn't allow himself to get into this kind of fight and take even half the beating Gatti took in this round, would proberbly throw in the towel and give up. That is not a knock on Mayweather either I can't think of ANY fighter today with this type of grit.
I forgot how great Gatti really is, that last thing i can think of are his losses to Mayweather and Gomez. They don't really put his career in perspective. There was some discussion about whether Gatti should be in the HOF, watch the Ward fights, the Robinson fights the fight against Ruelas and try and make a claim that he doesn't deserve to be there.
If he could defend himself it wouldnt be so bad. I respect him for having heart an all but he has copped a beating to many times. Whats he goin to be like in 15 years? You all saw what happened to meldrick taylor after he fought chavez in 1990.
He was great to watch but had too much balls for his own good. Look at him now, punch drunk and retarded. I say retarded because who else will put a pair of shades on sale for 75k? I'm surprised how punch drunk he is, you can barely fuckin understand him.
Gatti will probably get in Canastota, but there's a number of fighters who aren't in there that are eligible that I'd like to see in there before Gatti.
Brian Mitchell
Julian Jackson
Esteban Dejesus
Donald Curry
Marlon Starling
To name a few.
And Lloyd Marshall. Marshall defeated eight fighters who were world champs and at least half a dozen guys in the Hall of Fame. He kicked Ezzard Charles's ass.
And he's not in the Hall of Fame.
he won titles a two weights with limited gifts, he had ring magazine fight of the year award 3 times. Fighters have gotten in with less.
HELL if Bert Sugar gets in Gatti gets in.
agreed.:duh:
...in a three-second span. Poor Arturo. He was way out of his league. And he talked so much trash that he got Floyd upset and FMJ wanted to punish him.
lol,,pbf hit him with 3 clean straight right hands in a row right on the chin and still couldnt drop a totally shot gatti. some hero
yea bro.. we need more fighters like him in the sport..
its like a feel good feeling to watch him fight and hear him in the interviews..
he seems very likeable, I wish i met him..
I just wanted to throw in my .02 Pwest.. i felt it was necessary because of some of the disrespect on this forum..
anyone can bang away at a keyboard..
good post dean
anyways fellas, ima hit the sak.. im tired.. nite
Gatti has a warrior aura about him. People adore him for what he represented.
Gatti is the type of guy that if he was at a convention, and he was standing next to Mayweather and Oscar with all of them signing autographs, Gatti would have the longest line.
He has always come across as down to earth and approachable. He was one of the biggest stars of the 90's for a reason. Pure Blood and Guts. He made a shitload of money because of who he was. He never had to ride coattails, others rode his.

I love watchin Arturo Fight.. Many people here have only seen a few of his fights. Gatti early in his careeer was a very good fighter.. when he was a super feather he was in tip top shape and was a great banger with pretty good skills..
His problem was, he liked to FIGHT.. Watch the Tracy Patterson fights, he was clearly outboxing the shit outta him, then in the later rounds he wanted to bang it out which let tracy do some damage.
He did lose to manfredy, but that was back and forth, and if you watch it, it was stopped on Cuts.. so who know what would've happened if it continued..
He had some amazing fights, and sometimes he made his fights harder than they should've been (Joe Hutchinson) , but thats why we love Gatti. He fought his heart out in all his fights regaurdless if he was getting his ass beat..
I find it really disrespectful to the people who are like, "ahahaha gatti is a human punching bag.." or "a glorified bum" .. When I read those comments I try to brush them off.
He had skill, he was fast for the most part of his career, but he aged fast due to parties, alcohol and all the wars hes in..
I appriciate what hes done for the sport, and I'll always be a fan..
Your the man!

Gatti's richer then u, fucks more b!tches then you, and will end up in the hall of fame like it or not so I'm sure he cud care less what some broke a$$ haters on a website would say especially since he gets love from the other 97% of the boxing community
true that. Gatti is a true warior, and an inspiration. One of Canada's finest. He is HOF bound.
