Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe is a dominant fighter. Iwas never that big a fan of his, but he's always fun to watch. A lot of people dislike him because many of his fights were against guys they have never heard of. They assume that they have never heard of these guys because these guys are no good, rather than face the alternative hypothesis which is they haven't heard of them because to them boxing is HBO and EA sports.

Joe is a very good fighter. One of the top guys all time at SMW. His style works for him, and thats what matters. 21 defenses, 11 year reign! Haters can hate, but anyone with any sense gives the man his respect. If not who cares, they are just haters, or starting shit for the sake of it. I can't really stand floyd, but can not see a reason to hate his boxing, and i still gotta give him his respect, and props.

joe is as good as many think, and better than many give credit for.

I don't like the way he doesn't punch with the knuckle part of the glove, therefore almost all of his punches are illegal, actually slaps or swipes; I do respect that he's an unbeaten fighter and beat some good opponents, but I think his supporters overrate him. The overrating of Kessler, who really hasn't beaten anyone, irritates me also. People OD'ing on the impact of an unbeaten record. Calzaghe has fought in a mediocre era (SMW is never exactly stacked). He could have gained kudos if he'd have stepped up to the plate sooner with a mega fight, if he'd left Cardiff three or four or even five years ago. If he hadn't wasted time with bums like Ashira and the dude Salem. If they'd have made the Roy Jones fight (admittedly you can't heap all blame on Calzaghe), if he'd have fought Dariusz, if he'd stepped up to LHW to fight Tarver or Glen Johnson back in 03/04. If he'd have looked good against an old Hopkins who, after five or six rounds, didn't want to be there. I mean can you imagine what a prime Hopkins would've done to Joe? It's laughable.

Joe Calzaghe is a great fighter, defenilty one of the best in my era. Fighting style wise he's a one off. The Kessler fight was boxing clinic personified. However, his resume is weak IMO. A lot of that has to do with Frank Warren, but still. Most of his fans on here however give me the shits! They think he is god on earth, which is why i give em stick(Calzaghe nuthuggers list). Apart from that, Joe Calzaghe is one of the best.

This Guy is Undefeated Been A belt Holder for over 10 years and 20 defences Is the Ring Champ in 2 divisions at the same time.. His Style is unorthodox.. But it works.. Can y'all just accept it??. I really dont understand why this Man's existence causes so Much ALARM and Threatens so many on people on here the way he does.. It's just a game.. guys.. Honestly bro, lol he's just not that good. What u said is true but he is a overprotected hometown fighter. That constantly talks about being undefeated

a lot of people have missed out on the much harder hitting and exciting Calzaghe. It's a shame really that the Americans have caught him soo late in his career. They would've seen the transformation from accurate, fast, non stop bomber to the light hitting abeit effective style we see now. Look at Hector Camacho after his right with Rosario he went from all out fighter who threw and came forward to the safety first moderatly boring man in the latter part of his career but he was still effective. If you only saw the latter half of his career then you'd think very different of the fighter but if you saw his entire career you would make the case that because he experienced difficulties he adjusted his style etc. Same for Calzaghe his hands are the difficulties i'm 100% sure that if his hands weren't as bad as they were he would be twice the fighter he is now.

Calzaghe is good to watch. His acomplishments speak for themselves and i think he is either the 1 or 2 SMW of all time. However, it may look like i dislike him from time to time as i dont agree with some biased people here ;)

Anyone who says they do not enjoy Calzaghe's fighting style has either only recently discovered him, whether due to being American and coverage of Calzaghe being limited up until recently or is a new fan to boxing. Calzaghe can be sensational to watch and his combinations can be breath taking. Don't base your opinions on his fight with Hopkins, who is a tricky nut to crack.

To be fair its each to their own really, i'm not a Cotto fan at all, but wouldn't start hating because of it.

A lot of reasonable people are made to look like Calzaghe 'haters' because they argue with the biased Calzaghe fans, same with the Mayweather fans and Klitschko fans. Then there are some idiots who hate Calzaghe simply because he is British/European/Not American. I can't stand the way he fights but I respect what he's done. No matter what style he has or no matter how much people say he slaps, it aint easy doing what he's done.

He's white and he's british and people are racist as hell on this forum. People either hate him because he is white or because he's not American even though Calzaghe has beat many champions and former world champions. He's not just the top 30 boxer in the past 30 years, but he is the top 30 boxer ever if he can contiune winning. If he loses then he would drop off my list then. But he's 36 years old and still kicking everyone's ass.
