I don't think that anyone who has ever fought at 160 or 168 would KO a prime Toney. Benn had a massive heart though and I think he could definetley win rounds against Toney, but JT would probably take it on points.
I agree with that.
Nigel Benn is one of my favourite boxers but Toney is all wrong for him. Benn would always have a punchers chance but I think Toney takes him to school.
i'm only pointing out how biased you are i like plenty of british fighters but when you pick prime calzaghe over prime jones and you think benn-toney is a toss up it doesn't really make sense from a boxing perspective. we all know they would have a chance but if you had to pick a winner no one would pick them honestly.
Not getting into it now, I've done so elsewhere, I'll only say this:
Which is more biased, believing that a fighter like Nigel Benn has no chance against Toney, or believing he might beat him?
Which is more biased, believeing that the current undefeated SMW and LHW champ could KO the three times KOd Roy Jones, or believeing that there is no way he could?
It's not me who is biased my friend.

abadger the british fighter defender to the rescue!!!!!!!! dun da da dun!
I do defend British fighters Daggum, but only the ones that I think are good. Also, when I defend them, I try to explain why by comparing them to the other boxers I'm talking about.
The only threads I've seen you make are stupid ones criticising British fighters, or more accurately their fans, and the only reason you seem to have for your criticism is simply that the fighters you don't like are British, which isn't really a very good reason, is it?
james toney by UD, maybe TKO stoppage in the late rounds. toney is a better version of all the guys who beat benn - a slick counterpuncher. watson outboxed benn, prime eubank did also. james would school and humilate nigel benn, toney and benn are both two of my favorite fighters of all time
How do guys think Eubank what have faired against Toney?
I think Benn would have done better actually. I'm not sure that Toney would have found a really tough prime brawler like Benn so easy to deal with. Eubank would have boxed with Toney and I think that would have suited him better.
I do think though that Toney is wildly overrated. he is nowhere near the class above that he is made out to be, he just had a very unique style. For me both Benn and Eubank would have given him plenty of trouble, although picking a winner I think is tough.
because Benn is just a slightly more skillfull fighter than Barkley IMO he throws wide punches & most the time they are exclusively hooks on top of that Toney was quicker & had to much skill for Benn
that philly shell of Toneys is made for catching or slipping hooks
I see what you're saying, but Barkley was shot when he fought Toney, he couldn't see and had nothing in the tank. Benn at his best was dynamic and monstrous. I'm not dissing Toney at all, but I just have this vision in my head of Toney standing in front of Benn bending from the hips and waving his head around the way he did and Benn trying to play Whack-a Mole with him.
Its probably me being one sided though, Toney was no chump thats for sure.
woah! Nunn vs Benn...now that is a fun matchup. I bet that fight would have been legendary haha, Nunn would be beating the stuffing out of Benn and Benn would never give up and end up just bombing the hell out of him in the last rounds. thats was the Nigel Benn way, and I can honestly see that fight going that way.
or...Benn would end up getting beat up the way Eubank dealt with him.
but you can almost never count a fighter like Benn out in a fight lol...such huge amounts of raw power. unless its, well, James Toney haha.
yeah i saw how much trouble Benn's low style gave another tall fighter in McClellan fits he just could not get out of the way of the over hand rights or the hooks coming around the side of the guard & Nunn used to hang his chin out a a lot IMO
on the other hand Nunn was on a par with Roy Jones IMO for speed & he had tremendous ability and if there is one thing that Benn struggled with it was fighters who could jab on the backfoot and set him up for right hands like Eubank did & how Anthony Logan had him on the deck ,how Mauro Galvano hurt him in there remacth towards the end of the fight
Why do you think Toney was a tough style match for Benn?

Toney wins a decision, but fucking Benn knocking him out? People on here are pathetic, this is almost as disapointing as hearing that Micky fucking Ward would be John Duddy in his prime.
