Gamboa vs Khan

Anyone remember Gary St Clair? He fought Khan and hes smaller then Gamboa,Khan couldent KO him,and pretty much looked basic,he flinched EVERYTIME Clair threw a punch,Clair cant punch,but can was nervous Gamboa is better then Khan in every department,Gamboa by TKO IMO,and how the hell is Khan faster then Gamboa,Khan is very fast,yes,but Gamboa is more then fast,hes one of the fastest fighters ive seen St. Clair was a veteran ex world champion who had never been stopped. That nervousness you see from Khan is a much better thing for a fighter to have than the ridiculous cocksureness you saw from Gamboa. It will lead to him being a better fighter. The best fighter in the world, Mayweather, has got where he is because of his amazing defense, its no coincidence. I agree that Gamboa has more raw talent than Khan, but you need professionalism too. Right now Khan is the more experienced pro, further along with his development. I'd be very surprised if Gamboa beat him were they to fight tomorrow.

The Gairy St Clair who has never been stopped in his 48 fight career? According to Boxing rec, he hasn't even been down, but I don't trust them.

I think this thread proves that "you're only as good as your last fight" when it comes to boxing fans. If this thread was made on Friday, I bet there would be a lot more people picking Gamboa. Then this thread wouldn't be fair a fair assessment then would it? It's a lot closer fight then you think. Khan ain't no joke. He eats thunder and shits lightning. It would be a great fight though, but as long as Khan is in Frank Warren's corner then you can forget about these two gracing a ring together. Hopefully Khan does jump ship cause that's the only way his career can go forward IMO.

I think its more a matter of people having seen where Gamboa is at. I hadn't seen him before, so I reserved judgement. He definitely is more naturally gifted than Khan, and thats saying something, but at this point Khan is definitely ahead.

They are fairly evenly balanced at the present. Both have extremely quick handspeed, good power and excellent all around athletic ability. Should Gamboa move up to fight Khan right now though, Khan would win a decision or perhaps even stop Gamboa. Khan has a weak defence, but Gamboa is used to punching fighters who can't move half as fast as he can and he would be matched for speed by Khan. Khan would have enough to avoid any big shots Gamboa has and the size to punish as the rounds went by. In future, who knows? It's a fight I'd love to see though.

You can easily flip the coin and that wonder how would Gamboa handle Khan pressure? Khan is very accurate and will land, he has faster hands them Gamboa as well. Khan is frightenly quick, it's just a question how how his chin holds up? Totally accurate. I could very easily see Gamboa wilting in the face of a sustained Khan attack, he looked awful defensively. It is, as you say, all a matter of Khan's chin, and I'd have to see them together to judge who has faster hands. I thought Gamboa, but I could easily be wrong.

Tell that to Paul Williams & Quintana or Valuev & Chagaev Exceptions though to be fair. And Valuev is just too tall his punches lose all their steam coming down from the heavens.

If Gamboa decides to keep his hands up, he will easily beat Kahn. There are few athletes that can move and throw like he can. Faster than anything I have seen in a while. He just has to drop his cocky hands down act or he will eventually walk into a big shot.

Our friends across the pond seem to not know how big Khan is. He's too big for Gamboa.

Khan could put Gamboa in his back pocket. Khan will likely end up a welterweight.

Gamboa by ko, Khans chin sucks. Also even at this stage in there career I think Gamboa is leaps better then Khan.
