Which division has more talent?
Gamboa should not be included on the lightweight list... people are getting way ahead of themselves here.
Actually, I've been slagging Gamboa quite a bit tonight, so I probably shouldn't have suggested him for inclusion on the LW list. His talent does give him the potential to be a credible threat though, IMO, its just whether or not he can live up to it anytime soon.
thats why i see someone like pacquiao doing it because the money would definately be there...especially against a mayweather or even the winner of hatton/malignaggi (at 140 obviously)...
i dont see guys like peterson doing it...but the established names like pacquiao...
Pacquiao is actually the only guy I can see doing it.
It's a possibility but I wouldn't look forward to it, their promoters won't take the risk because the 135 pounders would be the naturally smaller men compared to the guys fighting at welterweight, unless there's a huge payday involved.

not to mention possible catchweight fights between those at lightweight and welterweight...
thats also a possiblity; not to mention many fighters at 130-135 either come in as a welterweight on fight night (ie. pacquiao came in 146 on fight night against marquez this last time)...
and some will be moving up...
so we could see a ton of fights made from 130-147; even guys moving up for catchweight fights.
i think these two division will continue to overall drive boxing at the moment...of course there is plenty of talent in almost any division (with a few exceptions) but these two division by far are the most stacked currently.

just starting closer to the bottom can you imagine
Anthony Peterson against Amir Khan? Juan Diaz vs Michael Katsidis?
thats the makings of great fights.
Yeah, hopefully the promoters and sanctioning bodies don't get in the way.
Definitely, there are some great fights waiting to be made there.

Yeah, but at lightweight you have to add Khan and Gamboa to the list, both of whom might very well beat any of the others right now, let alone in a year or twos time.
EDIT: I see Khan was on the list all along, anyway you take my point?
those two would be great match up

I picked Welter, mainly because it seems to be about 5 years younger on average. Most of the fighters have a good chance to do something still where most of the guys on the lightweight list are pretty established at this point. Both are great divisions and it's really a matter of personal opinion.

the matchups are almost limitless on that list and the quality out of those opponents is crazy

135 is the deepest division now I think, especially with Pacquiao, JMM and Guzman all moving up.

Lightweight by a mile. A ton of those fighters have the quality of real champs, but none will get to be because they're all so close.
Welter seemed deep about a year ago, until it became clear that none of them were actually that good. Cotto maybe, but is even he the real deal?
