This guy Gamboa gets KO'd by guy with power...... period
he gets stunned by jimenez who is not a big puncher every time he lands
and to believe i actually thought he was the next superstar :nonono:
This Gamboa kid is another Jean Pascal.
Keeps his hands down a lot. That's fine until he fights someone GOOD.
You can't re-teach guys like this. Either they half-ass their defense or they don't, there's no inbetween.
Guys like this think they're the next Roy Jones. Problem is they're not.
But once they realize...it's too late.
If he was doing crazy shit like he was tonight against a big puncher he deserves the fate he gets. His chin is decent though he ate a lot of flush shots and Jiminez hits decent. I do not think he will be able to change unless like Lennox said he gets kayoed and realizes maybe he should keep his hands up.
His chin is not terrible but not great either.
He's an amazing talent but not necessarily "the next great fighter." Tonight a better puncher would have knocked him out. But he still won a very wide and impressive decision
Agreed.
If someone could wipe some arrogance out of him before another boxer does, he could very well be the "next great fighter".
It's like Cintrón. He thought he could bully everyone around with one big punch until he met Margarito. If Gamboa doesn't make the necessary adjustements he will get dropped badly by a strong, orthodox fighter.
Here come the critics. First of all, the guy only has 10 fights and is sill learning. Every great fighter has made adjustments early in their careers. Second, i honestly didn't see him hurt so maybe i missed something. When he was knocked down, it seemed like he was more off balance than anything. He didn't wobble or stagger so thats a moot point. Point to me where he was out on his feet and I'll be convinced. I admit that Gamboa needs to pick up his hands, but you critcize a guy that doesn't have 11 fights yet. Give him a break.
na he has a chin people are just not giving Darling any kinda Punching power respect ... he needs to learn to pick up his hands if he learns that this dude would be untouchable
Gamboa got hurt quite a few times. Not good.
Here comes the extremely careful matchmaking.
If he gets hit like that by Edwin Valero it is good night Gamboa.
What you guys mean is he has confidence which is excellent and great
but only could get you so far. His chin is iffy. compare the shots jiminez
was taking in round 1-5 he was not phased at all. I know jiminez has
never been knocked out but This is Gamboa we are talking about,
adailton de jesus was 19-2 and never been knocked out but Gamboa
knocked him out and completely outclassed him like he wasn't sh*t
All im saying is the media and boxing fans set his bar too high and
he unfortunately didnt impress me.
It's like wanting that christmas present youve always wanted and
instead you get another present which isnt bad at all but just isnt the
one you wanted.
he's good but hes 25 and been boxing all his life and made it to the top
echelon of international boxing, he's not going to change his style now
he will get KO'd by good puncher if he faces one.
and 2501 he's been rocked everytime jiminez hit him clean.
not to say im mad because jiminez is a fellow countrymen(dominicano!!!)
but Gamboa was grossly overrated not as big as we all thought
even though his chin did hold up he was always got off balance when hit
against guys like pac he WILL get dropped for the count.
I think he still probably has one of those olympic type trainers
needs to get rid of those guys and hook up with some pro trainers
buddy mcgirt, emanuel steward, the mayweather family whoever
because he still seems to be in that hands down pitty pat and then
move style........That aint gon' cut it Gamboa i suggest he looks at the
tapes and look at them hard he was leaps and bounds more athletic and
talented... and expericenced than jiminez but still gave jiminez a chance
and all takes is one chance for someone to capitalize on and its over
PEACE
jimenez punches harder then he is given credit for, don't dis gamboa's great performance. How can you hate on Gamboa, when he took on a hard opponent in his 10th fight?
:ugh:... I didn't see him hurt once in that fight..
He got dropped but do to his stupidity of keeping his hands low.
He wont be able to do that shit with better comp or then he will really get knocked out.
But you dudes are trippin when you say his chin is suspect..

I'm not sure what fight you're watching. Gamboa walked through most of Jimenez' punches.
