I've been told I should be ready for my first AM fight next season.. So I just thought..
Why don't ya'll share your first amateur match experiences with the rest of us.
i was 16, it was on my 16th birthday to be exact. i was nervous as fuck!!!! i trained hard for a good 2-3 months, sparred till i couldn't stand.
I was at 135, i was fighting this white boy,( no racisum) first time i got hit was square in the nose and it kinda felt good and i liked it, the kid had no power and we were about the same in speed. well to make a long story short i won on points, he diddn't have an awnser for my straight right.
From my experience keep on your toes and don't look tired. It will discourage your opponent. Don't think it will be like sparring because those tiny gloves fucking hurt when you get your first real shot with them. Keep your hands up and use your jab. If you can establish the jab you can win. Remember don't go all out to try and knock your guy silly, just concentrate on scoring points and looking for openeings. And if there is no standing eight counts the more active fighter generally wins, even using computer scoring.
Right erm ok. How abotu posting some of your fight experience if you have any instead of hijacking more threads with your spam. Thats if you have stepped foot in a gym before.
Wtf?!?!?! I am 17. I'd still whoop your welsh ass.
You are 125 lbs and 17.
Don't talk out of line, kid.
I had to do that to post the quote from the thread as I was banned when I had my fight and had to share it with my fans. And fun no? Why would it be? And I'm not 16. I'm 17.

I guess I can understand why you're a complete prick now.
You haven't matured yet. :bottle:
As you may have known from my other thread in here.
I decided against moving up to fight someone with such a clear advantage because it would not be possible or do me well to pile on fat in a few days in the shape of five pounds.
So, as four people already had fights going on from my gym I went down with them anyway and got weighed. And this trainer came up to me asking if I wanted a fight tonight so I said yeah and he introduced me to his fighter. He was like a carbon copy of me but with shorter arms. He had one fight previous and lost it.
It was my first fight so yeah I am pretty fuckin' nervous as expected, but it all goes away when ya start warming up for the fight. First round was pretty hectic he was throwing huge wide hooks and instead of just jabbing my way past him I decided to bang with him and got caught pretty bad and had to take a standing 8 count. But, I gathered myself around and seeing as he was fucked from throwing such huge shots I just jabbed my way out of the round.
Second round I was a lot fresher than him and just jabbed him and landed some good hard combos on him while he was trying to get on the inside, still throwing huge shots. I was just sticking and moving and won the 2nd round easy. He had a busted nose at this point going into the third.
Third round we both thought we needed the knockout for the win as it was my first I had no idea I was quite far ahead on the cards, but we just straight at it. Crowd was well pumped as we both landed huge shots on each other in the first like 30 seconds so we had nothing left for the remaining 30 seconds.
I won the fight by 6 points; one judge scored it by 7, the other 2 by 6. Great fight and great to get some experience under my belt. I have learned that I need to work on my defence more and that I have better fitness levels than I thought.
Very pleased I did it and looking forward to my next bout.
1-0 BABY!!!
Can ya please move this to the T&N section it isn't letting me make threads there for some reason.

Pay my bet.
Little ****** :owned:.
I got pretty lucky with my first opponent, he was one of them guys who rushes forward and thinks that they can land whatever. So i just waited for him to throw the jab and rush forward behind it and throw the straight and caught him offbalance alot. Pretty easy for my first fight, it ended up being a "stoppage" which just meant that once you get so far apart on points the ref has to stop the fight, it doesn't mean that I really hurt the guy. I had MUCH harder fights as I went on.
well, it all went by very quick, and was a hell of a rush. i fought at 152 which is well above my weight, but i couldn't make 141 at the time. the kid i fought was pretty big, but didn't use his power very effectively against me.
it was a low-contact fight. i hit him with a couple good left hooks. he hit me with 1 straight right that knocked my contact lens out. other than that most of the punches i landed on him were body shots, and most of his punches were jabs. we were both trying to counter-punch each other. lots of feints and head movement, but not much landing from either one of us.
in the end he got the decision. my corner said they thought i won, but i couldn't argue with the decision. i didn't throw enough punches and i didn't fight my fight. i wouldn't say my "nerves" got the better of me because i wasn't afraid of him. i just tried to do too much. i tried to do all the right footwork, feints, head movement, etc. when i should have just gone out and fought the kid. it was a big show, but the crowd didn't bother me at all.
overall it was a good learning experience. it didn't get me down or frustrate me. i was back in the gym the next day.
Expect to fight a lot of Malignaggi's with a jab and move, jab and move approach. A lot of people you fight will be very rhythmical with their jab, 1,2 1,2 then maybe a 1,2, right, 1,2 right. Its sometimes pretty easy to time their jab and counter with your own.
And you get the Ricky Hatton wannabe's who throw everything they have at you, with little to no regards to defence. With these guys keep your hands up, keep your chin in and pick your shots, its about scoring points, so keep calm and use your jab, they will get tired and open up - a little variation is good with the jab...dont be predictable.
Be confident, be calm, pick your shots and dont be predictable. Other than that good luck and keep an open mind.
Just some advice, train hard, hard!!! no matter if its just an amateur fight, so when you feel a bit nervous or anxious, which almost all fighters DO get that gut feeling before a fight, It's one less thing to worry about since you trained hard, just don't think to hard about the fight just relax, If it's your first fight, 3rounds of 2 minutes, just throw a lot of punches, always move your head, use dimensions, foot work, and keep your chin tucked, remember its an amateur fight, most points wins it....don't worry about what the opponent can do, you know what YOU can do and thats what matters, remember If you do what you want to do, he can't do what he wants to do, one more thing, make SURE you do your roadwork (jogging)..thats where we get our "gasoline" from so to speak
