Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer:
'Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga and a Co main event of Juan Manuel Marquez-Nate Campbell'
"We're planning on doing a pay-per-view in October with Juan Manuel Marquez, and I talked to Don King a week ago, to see if we could put a Marquez-Nate Campbell fight together. I haven't heard back from him yet. I think he was traveling overseas I was told. So with what's happening with Mosley, we could possibly see a doubleheader with Mayorga and Mosley and with Juan Manuel Marquez and Nate Campbell and I think we could come up with a couple of other fights with Don, so I think we could come up with a pretty spectacular night in October"
I wish it wasn't all the way in October but as long as the fight comes to fruition I'll be happy. Mosley and Marquez are two of my favorite and most respected fighters.

Not bad, not bad at all. I'm more interested in the Juan Manuel Marquez-Nate Campbell bout as that can go either way where as the Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga fight is one sided.
I can't believe so many people are complaining...
This is a solid PPV card...
its better than say: two top fighters...and like 4-5 undercards of people you've NEVER heard of in your life who aren't ANY good at all...
We're talking mosley v. mayorga...in their primes i think mosley would win a WIDE UD (in the range of 10 rounds to 2 or 9 rounds to 3 rounds)...but at this stage of their careers i think its going to be a much closer fight than people imagine...
and what a brilliant co-feature/undercard of JMM v. nate campbell...
its not everyday you get two fights for the price of one...on majority of ppv cards you dont get 4 names against each other...especially names of this caliber...
so i dont know what people are complaining about...i think its a good card and worth the $50...(it HBO hosts it then it will be $50)...
exactly. i just read the 1st page and saw a lot of bitching. When i 1st read mayorga-mosley / marquez-campbell same card on ppv i was like holy shit thats 2 ppv main events on one card. Anywanys i'd pay for it i think its worth ppv and will be better than the judah fight. Shit marquez-campbell should be good as well

Don't like the idea. Shane Mosley, in my humble opinion, could beat anyone at 147 on a given night. I would love to see Mosley against Mayweather.
Mayorga is one of boxing's most entertaining fighters. Put him against a loudmouth and you've got ENTERTAINMENT at it's best. Can you imagine a press conference for a Mayorga vs Malignaggi fight? Or Mayorga vs Mayweather?
I hope some of you are being sarcastic. You guys are getting all giddy about a washed up Mayorga fighting an aging Mosley. JMM v Campbell sounds ok, but both these guys are on the way out too.
Let's say that all that you said true. It's still a good card. When two fighters are NEAR the same spot in their careers, it's a good match up. I'm happier about this card then I am with De La Hoya/Mayweather II, to be honest. Atleast these are fights that haven't happened.
I'm all for rematches, but this one isn't SOOOO much better than this card. Not really.

I find it strange that they get two world class fights, for the price of one, and people act as if it's the biggest rip off since Rahman/Maskaev II. Not only are they four legit fighters, but they all have pleasing styles in one way or another. What more do people want?
Mayweather vs. De La Hoya 2?:ugh:
PPV worthy. No doubt
Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Nate Campbell should be the headliner. If Baldomir beat Judah, Mosley would have a TKO before 8 rounds. Mosley should go after a real challenge. If he is going to wait it out until October why not fight the winner of the Williams vs. Quintana fight. He wins that fight while the world would watch the Cotto vs DLH fight I would love to see Mosley vs Mayweather finally. If Cotto and Mayweather win out.
Mosley and Mayorga are superstars, I can't see what people whine about "Oh no, PPV.." Yeah, PPV, it's fucking Mosley and Mayorga! :)

Now, I'll pay money to see those fights. I'd ALMOST buy either alone. Together, I'm liking the sound of that.

I say Mayorga brings more money to the table than Judah. He's well known, and he's already been in there with with the top 3 latino names in those weight classes, Oscar, Tito & Fernando. He's gonna bring the latino market, that's a given, and it should be a pretty exciting fight for as long as it lasts. Hope he can make it back down to 147, he was murderous at that weight class (Mayorga). Unfortunately, age is creeping up on both fighters, but at least they're making it happen. This is part of the completing the circle with all the best fighters in the 147lbs and 154lbs division of the last 10 years. They've all fought each other, lets add this one to the list. Praise em for making it happen. There have been some great ones (maybe not always great fights, but great matchups): Oscar vs Mosley, Mayorga, Tito, Fernando, Pernell, Quartey; Mosley vs Wright, Fernando, Oscar, Cotto, Forrest; Tito vs Fernando, Oscar, Mayorga, Wright, Pernell. The list goes on and on. This was truly a great (golden) era. We'll look back upon it one day. Too bad Mayweather won't be included.
I think it's a good card, but I hear Campbell's going to fight Amir Kahn....
...wonder how much money they're talking about
Would love to see khan in that fight, but 2 things worry me.
1. Khan is clearly good, but there is something about him which worries me somehow. I can't put my finger on it, but I just see the bubble bursting and it all come crashing down. Maybe it's a subliminal Prince Naseem complex?!?)
2. I can't see Warren getting off his milking stool so soon.
I would never pay to see a clown like Mayorga fight. October sounds better for the promoters than it does for the fighters. Campbell-Marquez should be good though.
Mayorga was restrained and had some very good moments beating Fernando Vargas...
For October??
This fight doesn't even justify PPV status and I think it would be a terrible move.
It does have World Championship Boxing on HBO all over it though.

Bang Calzaghe vs Jones, and Hatton vs Malignaggi on this card as well. Then we're talking the best card ever!! Seriously though, why not? Boxing is starting to come back to life again, and this would be great to complete the process of making it a massive sport worldwide again.
