joe fought in the 168 pound division where all the runaways fight for his whole career.he stepped up to fight an old blown up middleweight hopkins and most people thought he lost that fight. how can people give joe credit when they think he lost that fight? you can't face the reality many people question that decision and the way he looked like such an amateur. as for the white and black thing look how people jumped on the pavlik bandwagon after he blasted out jermain taylor. it's not a race thing at all. in fact more people are looking for great white fighters to exploit in this sport but calzaghe aint great.
see when peopel make fake accounts jsut to post stupid shit liek this you shouldnt even bother reading it. ive learned my lesson
Ok, the post was a bit of a wind up, but the account is very much real >:(
It might seem like a stupid post, but are you telling me America dont underrate Joe while perhaps overrating many of their own fighters??
If pavlik had beaten Hopkinsyou guys would be actin like it was the second coming of christ or something :o
I wouldn't. Some might, sure. But the fact remains that Pavlik, by the way, stepped up HUGE, EARLY in his career. And, to be honest, I see him, at this stage in his career, fighting either Hopkins OR Calzaghe. Calzaghe hadn't stepped up LIKE THAT, by the time Pavlik has. Still, I pick Calzaghe over Pavlik. Lol.

I think if Joe was American, he would of got the big fights years ago.
Do you guys really think Joe went looking for the easier fights? He was obviously not worth the risk to the elites, but if he was American they would of had to fight him at some point surely.
be honest now, do you believe there is anyone who could of made easy work of joe?
It wasn't that he was feared.. more like his promoter sucked.
where there is a will there is a way.
Wrong. I'd actually hate him a bit if he was American. Lol. He'd have had even MORE chances to fight more worthy names, and still managed to get to that task WAY late in his career.
As a U.K. fighter, you can say that he feared getting ripped off in a foreign country, (and rightfully so) and therefore, chose not to fight here until it was the last elg of his career. So, the thread is completely ass wrong.
Great post!

Honestly, I think Calzaghe has left it too late in the day to be universally respected by the US audience. He is past his prime and spent his best years fighting way below his true potential. We will never know what a prime JC (one that could still bang with his punches) could do against a prime RJJ. The Hopkins fight was just an ugly spectacle and certainly not a showcase for what JC is capable of. Styles make fights at the end of the day. A convincing win over Pavlik is the only fight I think that would guarantee JC more credibility than he current enjoys Stateside.
The 'what if he was black' argument is just banal.
Great post.. It's too late now.
What could have been is not what was.

This might be the dumbest thread to be ever recorded. I mean REALLY...:nonono:
Seeing the truely extreme (insane) lengths that Americans will go to discredit Calzaghe's achievements, i realize just how bitter America are towards anything they cant call their own.
Now my question is if Joe was African American (I say African American because everybody knows American athletes are not available in white) Do you think he would be considered a great? do you think ppl would still be saying hopkins won the fight?
I think if Joe was white and American they would be calling him the greatest to ever put on a pair of gloves.
in short, America wish Joe was theirs.
One of the worst posts I've seen in a while, stick to british culture of wherever you reside.

He would be considered exactley as he is now..
Calzaghe is good but not great.. he wasted a career which could have been better fighting for the majority part.. bums!
