I mean John Duddy and Andy Lee. What happened to these two hot upcoming prospects? At the beginning of 2008, there was talk of a Duddy-Pavlik fight sometime this year and Andy Lee was being touted as the next great middleweight fighter...
But as we all know, Duddy and Lee were 'exposed' in their last fights against opponents they were expected to beat handily. So, have they regrouped? And what's in store for these two exciting fighters later this year? Has anyone heard any news?...:boxing:
And lastly, It's kind of ironic that these two went from being the most talked about prospects to relative obscurity in a matter of months...
I occasionally like to bump up old threads to remind of us what was happending in the boxing world when I created the thread. So, here we are, in 2009 and John Duddy has lost his first fight to journeyman and Andy Lee seems to have not recovered from his first loss...
So, what's in store for these two Irish boxers? Should we collectively "write them off" as it's said?
Both Of Them Are Horrible Fighters With Padded Records..andy Lee Was Exposed Already...duddy Is Next
thats complete shit, duddy is limited everybody knows that, but lee is very talented, he had a bad night, im sure he will have learned from it, but to call him a "horrible fighter" is sheer stupidity
FYI, Andy Lee is back in action tomorrow night (7/19) against journeyman Willie Gibbs in Ireland. He also has a scheduled bout in early August against a to be determined opponent...
It's kinda ironic that just earlier this year, Lee's trainer Emmanuel Stewart, was tentatively scheduling big fights with Winky Wright and Kelly Pavlik later this year....
In any event, I wish Lee the best in his journey to mw greatness...:boxing:
manny steward was getting way ahead of himself,

I think Lee may have got caught up in all the hype, while Duddy has seemed to realize his limitations and is reportedly moving down to junior mw. But to call them "horrible" fighters is a bit of a stretch. Only time will tell...

That's ballsy to say now.
Lee is a sniper though. He has an exquisite sense of picking individual shots. He's a cross between Tommy Hearns and Wlad Klitschko. Unfortunately when he gets hit, he reacts like a cross between . . . . Tommy Hearns and Wlad Klitschko.
Thats a perfect analogy hahaha
It'd be nice if Duddy can improve somewhat. He's definitely a crowd pleaser. He would provide for some incredible fights against the likes of Pavlik and Abraham.
Duddy is turning 28, it's too late for any significant improvement.
He would get ABUSED by any top 5 middleweight. When I say abused, I mean sent into retirement eating his Potatoes through a straw
Andy Lee will unify the middleweight division within 4 years. Its been called now.

Both fighters come again, Duddy was hardly exposed he just took some big shots.
Lee should never have been stopped either.
I think Duddy was exposed more than Lee. Duddy took a Gatti-like amount of punishment against Smitchet and his face was a bloody mess afterwards. The Lee fight was stopped prematurely IMO..
I think your analysis is right. Lee was being the most hyped fighter I've ever seen. Fuckin Stewart was scheduling fights with Pavlik and Winky Wright right before the Vera fight!...
As for Duddy, I would love to see him give Smitchet a rematch after buckling down his defense alittle more..

To be honest lee did better then duddy and shudnet of been stopped it was a very questionable stoppage.
Duddy did get exposed imo he was like gatti in that fight.
Duddy was never supposed to be more than a B version of Gatti posing at Middleweight.
Lee on the other hand. I think he'll be better off now without the pressure of being so hyped. Losing might have helped him in that way. He needs to work on his inside game too.
