Oscar is 35 years old. He Never got tired in the fight. He Let his hands go in every round, threw good combos. Blocked alot of punches, he showed good defense. I was impressed, I think Oscar has a shot against Mayweather just as I did last year. Obviously I'd still pick Mayweather by decision, but you never know. Larry said Oscar can still make great music in the ring, I'd have to agree.
Forbes is far from a bum, in his 11 year career he has never gone down. He has sparred literally hundreds of hours with PBF and never went down from him either. He was picked because he's a slick fighter and they are trying to prepare for PBF, so I thought he accomplished that in this tune up.
IMO a prime DLH beats Cotto, easily.
I thought he looked good as well. Picked his spots, threw combinations, worked his jab and didn't get tired down the stretch.
I still think he should get rid of the shoulder roll defense.
I did notice that Oscar was tired in the 11th and 12th rounds but over all he had great stamina and kept the pace going. The only thing is that I have never seen Oscar get hit that many times before. He used to have a stellar defense. Do you think his defense is not as good due to his age and his reflexes slowing down?
I think it's due to him always trying to change his style. He came out more aggressive this time and got hit with a lot of shots. Against a counter puncher this may be his fate. Plus Floyd Sr is a defensive wizard, and now he's got Oscar fighting more offesively, not sure if it's gonna work out for him.

Co sign doggie. These haters just cant stand the fact that Oscar is the only true threat to Money. Only Oscar can bring Money the kind of guap that Money deserves and these fools is just jealous sittin at home in they studio apartments and they old ass macintosh computers wishing they were Oscar or Money. :lol1:
De La Hoya was going out of his way to stay relaxed. This was highlighted by the HBO commentary team. Thus some of the overt differences in his disposition. He looked good. Forbes is a solid competitor. I'm embarrassed reading some of the comments on the forum.

Not to leave out the fact that in the 10th round he threw 80 punches when is the last time you have seen that from DLH?

i agree as well man. forbes is a very game opponent. the comparisons to him, and gomez are an obvious sign that people have no idea what they are talking about. i will pick floyd by ud again, but you never know. as for cotto, i favor him, but oscar could pull an upset, and i would not be shocked. he is still a very good fighter, and dangerous as anyone.
I thought Oscar looked old and well past his prime, Forbes is a small blown up 140 pounder and he managed to be competitive with Oscar and mess up Oscar's face.
Prime Oscar would've easily stopped Forbes.
