I'm sure there are few prospects (remember a successful Khan is potentially worth millions to Warren) who are put in with fighters who could really be expected to beat them. I agree that Khan avoids punchers, but at this stage it doesn't matter. The individual attributes of his opponents are much less important than their overall quality, and their ability to help Khan learn. By beating them Khan has legitimately boxed his way to the fringes of the world scene, and all his big tests are yet to come. In a way you treating him like the champion you clearly do not believe him to be, by expecting him to prove everything now. The fights he has had so far are not so important in the grand scheme of Khan's projected career as a world class boxer and if he is not up to the task of being one then he will be exposed soon enough. So please...I mostly agree with you...I just think its unfair to call such a young fighter the most protected fighter on the planet. my first porter call as a fan is watching competitive fights ,Khans fights are not compeitive because he fights non punchers ,he is protected there is no way of getting around it

I totally agree with most of what you say, but you are ignoring the fact that Khan is just a prospect, working his way up towards the big fights. It is almost as though you want to write him off from the start. His opposition up to this point has been good for a boxer of his experience and harder fights will come. Khan does have a suspect chin, but at this stage it is only suspect. It will be fair to describe him as incredibly protected if he continues to avoid punchers throughout his career, but it isn't yet. In a division that contains Campbell, Katsidis, Diaz and Casamayor, Khan will have to face a puncher sonner rather than later. It is likely he will face at least one of them (whichever has a belt then) and fight for a world title at 22 or so. Tye Fields? how is he supposed to get fights when fighters are afraid to get in the same building with him? Tye Fields is an ATG because of the unsanctioned fights he's had in underground fights circles and brazil, iraq etc. I think that was the point Kessler was trying to make. Tye Fields is technically overprotected because all of the top heavyweights are purposefully ducking him which make it seem like he's overprotected; they don't want to feel the power of a 6-9 275 lb. monster. If Samuel Peter would man up and give this man a title shot, Tye would decapitate him in one round and vindicate his case for GOAT.

I pretty much agree with Terrible regarding Khan, he isn't fighting punchers at all. It's a shame. His next fight needs to be a puncher or at least a moderate puncher. I look at Amir and see how big he is at the weight and think he must be able to take a decent one. But it makes you think.

I agree he has mostly fought opposition he could beat, but thats the norm for a young prospect. I think its too harsh to call him the most protected fighter in boxing. He's at the stage now where he's going to be taking meaningful fights soon, and if he avoids Casamayor, Campbell, Katsidis, Diaz etc then I'll be more than happy to agree with you. i also think warren will hold khan back til the last possible opportunity like he always does. He needs to follow Ricky Hattons lead and break away from him, or he will become the most protected fighter. I don't think he can, Khan is not going to be sticking around at lightweight, look at the size of him. Even Warren will have problems legitimizing a move up in division without a title shot at lightweight first.
