1. Wladimir Klitschko
2. Ruslan Chagaev
3. Samuel Peter
4. Nicolai Valuev
5. Tony Thompson
with Alexander Povetkin coming in at #6
its a tie between at Thompson and Povetkin but Povetkin has fought the better opposition
I refuse to acknowledge there are even 5 heavyweights worthy of a list... that's the point.
Just because he's a contender in today's HW division doesn't mean shit to me. I have no interest in watching any HW fights except Wlad and maybe Peter.
I agree there are no top 5, there are maybe top 2 or 3 at the most, but thats my top 5 and I think its legit list, if it were up to me I would narrow it down to 4
I dono dude but not many can beat him, his size is intimidating and I think he could knock Chagaev out in the rematch I mean thats his only shot he wont win a decision over Chagaev

Improving from a steaming pile of shit.... to just a pile of shit might be an improvement. Too bad he's still a pile of shit.

Chagaev doesn deserve to be rated 2nd
1Klitschko
2Peter
3Chagaev
4Povetkin lets not forget him the guy won the mandatory shot fare and square eventhough hes not ready for Klitschko
5Valuev which shows what a weak division it is now, I got him at 5 because of the impressive win over Liakhovich
I know Tye Fields is the greatest fighter ever but I said top five HW's not named Tye Fields in my first post.
Sorry, bro.
Tye Fields is to good not to be on my list.
1) Tye Fields
2) Nikolai Valuev
2) James Toney
3) John Ruiz
5) Wlad Klitchsko
I know Tye Fields is the greatest fighter ever but I said top five HW's not named Tye Fields in my first post.
I think with the skill; ability; and talent haye has shown in the past will translate to heavyweight.
he doesnt start out in the top but he will get there...a top 5 at the very least i believe. he'll be quicker than most heavyweights too...(based on his size)...he'll be the smaller guy (in terms of weight) but it'll be beneifical in terms of ability and ring generalship.
chagaev, povetkin, and vauev and top 5 fighters BUT right now they arent playing a major role...the biggest talks in heavyweight right now (besides the arguements of why tyson and holyfield shouldnt fight each other) are who should wlad fight next and those looking to see where haye is going in the division right now.
i say wlad v. peter first; put haye against a top 5 heavyweight and then put the winner of wlad v. peter against the winner of haye v. his opponent.
thats the biggest scenario at heavyweight right now...peter; wlad; haye; and rightfully so.
im not saying the others dont matter overall but currently all eyes are on those 3 guys.
and for everyone who criticized peter being a legit top 5 fighter need to get there story straight...
peter hasnt looked impressive at times in the ring but in his last fight he impressed me; especially for looking out of shape and doing what he did.
and using pretty good head movement at that...
peter is a legit fighter but in the end i believe all roads will lead to haye v. wlad.
Peter looked somewhat impressive beating a 39 year old, shot fighter with chronic back problems coming off a 15 month layoff in Maskaev.
If you think Wlad, Peter and Haye are the only heavyweights that matter you're dead wrong.....Maybe Americans like you feel that way, but if you come to Eastern Europe fighters like Chagaev, Povetkin, Valuev and Ibragimov are important players in the division....The division is alive and well in Eastern Europe....I am an Eastern European and the fights I wanna see are Wlad vs Chagaev, Valuev or Povetkin........Wlad vs Peter II would be nice to unify, but Wlad already schooled Peter and beat his ass......As for Haye, like I said he's a nobody right now...If he proves himself I will take him seriously.
I dont really like any of em. I like Peter because he does what HW's are supposed to do, knock people out/ hurt them. I like Toney because I've always liked him. Sometimes, when Wlad gets that eye of the tiger he can look good. But interchangably he looks terrible and negative. I like Haye over whom a huge question mark remains until he fights at HW again (though he looked amazing demolishing Bonin)
I dont think we have 5 notable heavyweights right now...
or at least worth mentioning in a top 5 heavyweight thread.
I'm going to say this; the 3 that matter right now are:
Wlad
haye (even though he hasnt had a heavyweight fight yet)
and peter
more importantly these 3 guys fighting each other.
however sultan is still a legit heavyweight who can make a comeback (even if he lost an ugly fight to wlad)...that doesnt mean he's not any good.
Haye dosen't matter, YET...He's a nobody right now.
How can you not mention Chagaev, Povetkin and Vauev?....All 3 of those guys are key players in the division and Top 5 material..Like you said, Sultan Ibragimov is still a top player too, he needs to get rid of Jeff Mayweather though, he's become way too defensive.
1. Wladimir Klitschko
2. Ruslan Chagaev
3. Sam Peter
4. Nikolai Valuev
5. Alexander Povetkin
6. Sultan Ibragimov
7. Tony Thompson
8. Vladimir Virchis
9. John Ruiz
10. Alexander Dimitrenko
thats my top 5
